Congratulations to @lavenderroomny on the fifth anniversary of They Fest. This event that they’ve created is not only pretty special, it keeps getting better. Yesterday was fantastic. (Anecdote: There was an older gentleman who came to Duende yesterday just wanting to have a beer. He had no idea They Fest was happening, and no familiarity with The Lavender Room or the scene in general. Hours later, he was still there, standing in the middle of the crowd, rocking out to @pipe_bomb_band . A very cool thing to see.) Congrats to @lavenderroomny and Thank You. 🙌✊ @lavmade_ taken in Buffalo, N.Y. by @1120press

Check out our in-depth interviews today with musicians Sal Mastrocola (Gatto Black), Jordan Smith (Stress Dolls, Personal Style, and Urge Surfer) and Vinnie Lema (Pretty Good State University and Girl Stuf) as well as our ‘Soundbites’ roundup of music news from across the Buffalo scene. See it all at 1120press.com - Link to our online magazine in our bio linktr.ee Yes, we’re back. We’re not exactly the same, but we’re back. We took a few months to think and retool. We’ll be publishing 4-story issues once a month. They will include long-form profile interviews with original, individual Buffalo artists. We’ll also be doing occasional editorial and enterprise pieces. One difference which may upset some is we won’t be doing reviews. The reasons for that are many and if you want to take me out for coffee or a few beers, I’ll be more than happy to explain the many reasons why. Or, message if you’re curious. We will, however, carry over our Soundbites column which rounds up new music and other items of interest from throughout the Buffalo scene. Soundbites will run as part of our monthly issues when warranted, and periodically as stand-alone pieces, as well. 1120 Press is a one-man operation. With the many other projects in which I’m involved, time needs to be used wisely. Duplicating what others are doing in this space - and doing well - doesn’t make sense. My time is better spent doing what I do best, which is long-form journalism. If that’s not your thing, I totally understand. Taste is subjective. For example, millions of people (for some reason) like The Eagles. I hate them. Besides publishing, we’ll continue boosting the scene in other ways, including shooting shows, promoting performances on 1120 YouTube and TikTok, and supporting artists through 1120 Records. Also, stay tuned for our second documentary film now in production in collaboration with Shepherd Moon Studios, coming in the first half of 2027.
