What does it mean to be a younglife leader? I’m not sure I’m the best person to ask. But I can tell you all about my friends. Names, people, memories I will never forget. I decided to be a Younglife leader because I needed a friend like that when I was in high school, and what better of an opportunity than to be what I needed for someone else. What I had no idea of is just how much I would grow. Sometimes younglife has felt more for me than others. A chance to travel the country, a chance to make new relationships, a chance to be a part of community I had never experienced. Other times I felt more stretched and used than I’ve ever been in my life. But leading younglife was the best decision I could have made. An underserving, and under qualified guy like me to be trusted with the vulnerabilities, pain, and tears of High schoolers. I may not bear the title of a younglife leader ever again. But I will carry the memories I’ve made for the rest of my life. If you want to be a leader, younglife isn’t for you. It’s not a place to put your identity or to find your pride in. But if you want to be a servant, then I couldn’t recommend anywhere else. The same guys that are my #1 trolls, are the same guys that I’ve gotten to walk through life with. And Quite frankly there’s nobody else I would’ve wanted to serve. They’ve made fun of me, embraced me, made me laugh, made me angry, but most importantly, they’ve made me their friend and trusted me with some of the deepest parts of their lives. An undeserving, under qualified guy like me, will never forget your names, and your stories. I am eternally grateful for the ways in which the lord has used me, and has pruned me all under this thing called younglife. Watauga High Till I die. by @11_landon

Something that I think has become so prominent amongst my generation is what I’d like to call spiritual aestheticism. I feel like it’s become apparent that people have become obsessed with the chase of more aesthetically pleasing posts, closets, hobbies, and it can appear their walk with Jesus. Don’t think I’m excluding myself from this, because I’m not. But as my 2nd year of college wraps, and I post some of my favorite videos and photos with some of my favorite people. Know that the Lord was in all of this. From my first full year leading younglife, to coaching, and making new friends throughout the year. Know that he was in what you can’t see as well. For every beautiful and aesthetic photo/ moment I’ve captured there’s probably another moment of tears to go with it. This year was full of Joy, but also sadness and pain. So know that if you flip through this post, that my life is not aesthetic and neither is my walk with Jesus. But it’s real. I’m thankful for the moments in this post, but I’m also thankful for the moments I spent in the hurt. Because in both of these kinds of moments, the lord was growing in me. And I’m not chasing aestheticism, I’m chasing growth. So I thank the lord, that despite what it may seem, my life isn’t aesthetic, and that is a blessing. by @11_landon

To know, and to be

To know that I am loved, and to be a light amongst darkness.
To know that I can drive to an unfamiliar town, and be comforted by familiar faces
To know my identity isn’t in something shallow like my physical ability, but is found in the lord, and to be a witness of the things he has done for me.
To know that the tomb is empty,
and be changed.
