After all, practice is also needed for landings in complex environments—involving, for instance, buildings, wind turbines, lampposts..
even with the large Chinook helicopter! Every angle is closely monitored, and all pilots and loadmasters place absolute trust in one another.

This allows them to quickly pick up and transport troops from hard-to-reach locations, such as urban areas.

After all the hostages had been freed and the school secured, the soldiers were picked up by the Chinook. Under the watchful eyes of all the students (kept at a safe distance), the Chinook landed on the sports field and collected the soldiers to proceed to the next mission.

*** Part 2 ***

Once the mission at the Dongecentrale had concluded and all the troops had been picked up, the team immediately flew on to the next scenario: a hostage situation at the Dongemond College. A Chinook arrived to deploy troops via fast-roping, under the watchful eye of snipers in a Cougar helicopter.

Today saw another exercise as part of the WIC SOF (Weapon Instructor Course, Special Operations Forces) program. Under the watchful eye of Apache helicopters, two Chinooks and two Cougars once again deployed troops to resolve a hostage situation. this time at the Dongecentrale event site. After the hostages had been freed and evacuated, the troops were picked up and transported to the next "hostage" scenario at the Dongemond College in Geertruidenberg.

In this video we see the first insertion by Chinook.

Plenty of footage coming up, so be sure to stay tuned!

Here is part 2 of the video covering the exercise in Rotterdam involving two Chinook and two Cougar helicopters. You can see troops fast-roping from the Chinook, after which the aircraft departs. Meanwhile, the Cougar is deploying troops by fast-rope onto the roof, allowing them to enter the building from above!

Follow for more footage of this exercise and many many more!
