Ariocarpus Sladkovskyii acquired from Jack at @divineplanter

Pot acquired from Tim at @jewell.ceramics

Micro staging of my new Slad. They’ve been one of my chase plants lately, so it’s nice to finally have one in the collection.

Big or small, the details are important and should be paid attention to_

Staging rocks and foliage acquired from the nearby lake

Top dressing is red sand from Sedona, AZ purchased off EBay

Staging tools hand forged by @sharpgreenthings

I’ve been experimenting with red sand from Sedona and it’s great as top dressing. It has a nice warm earthy red tone and settles nicely without caking or retaining too much water. 101/10 would recommend

Through experimentation we can discover new techniques that push us to new heights of creativity_

Pot acquired from Larry Thomsen

Stagings rocks are from the nearby lake

This is the final video of the 4 part series featuring the pots that Larry gifted me. His work is of superior quality. You can feel it when you hold them and see when viewed in person. Thank you for the generous gifts Larry, and I hope you liked what I was able to create with them.

If you’re in the market for a pot for an upcoming staging project, or have a nice plant that needs a new set of shoes, consider Thomsen Clayworks offerings of high quality handmade pieces.

Through collaborating with each other, we can achieve greater heights of creativity than we could alone_

_Staging_Showcase_: Thelocactus Hastifer

5x Thelocactus Hastifer acquired from @skill.issues.succ

Pot acquired from @cactusquest // @questceramics

Top dressing acquired from Jonathan and Haneen @ungroundedobjects

Rocks and wood were scavenged from the nearby lake

Stagings tools hand forged by @sharpgreenthings

Hastifers are my favorite Thelo, and I’m discovering a new fascination with the genus in general. It felt nice using a lighter cooler top dressing this time, and I like how it accents the plants, the rocks, and the piece of wood; giving them a solid background to emphasize their unique features.

Plants and art, while occupying different lanes, intersect in so many ways; and it feels truly special to be able to stand as an artist at those shared convergences_

_Logo_Showcase_: @stripey_seed

This piece was done for Jen//Stripey Seed as a gift from Nick// @caudexappreciator. It was really fun doing pieces for both of them and they were like opposites to each other. Jen’s was very fluid, organic, and moody; while Nick’s was very technical, precise, and structured. The perfect yin and yang pairing for them both that reminds me of my wife.

Balance can be achieved when two opposites work together, each compensating for the other with mutual respect and appreciation_

Recently completed this piece for Caudex Appreciator. His attention to detail and methodology when approaching plant care is precise and very accurate. We could all learn a thing or 2 from his ideas and techniques.

Our plants are telling us exactly what they need at any time. We just need to learn how to listen to them_

_Staging_Showcase_:

Thelocactus Rinconensis

3x Thelocactus RInconensis acquired from @anzasgarden

Pot and staging rocks acquired from @kitoi

Staging tools hand forged by @sharpgreenthings

Top dressing, foliage, and tree branch acquired from the nearby lake

I combined my 3 Thelos into one epic staging in my new Kitoi pot. While I’m happy with the overall composition I would like to circle back and adjust the top dressing to feature the staging rocks more prominently. The color ended up being the same as the rocks which made everything blend together, losing detail in the end to an otherwise interesting arrangement.

Thank you for the pot Keith. This is the first Kitoi pot in my collection and I can see why they’re so sought after.

We’ll return to this staging again the future. There’s still more that can be done with this one_

Beautiful artwork by @1201_cacti ..I am very fortunate to have such a personalized piece created by him.

He incorporated the vibe of my love for rehabbing “the undead”. I enjoy taking the time to learn about the individual care needs of plants that may have been (intentionally or unintentionally) neglected and are close to death. Not all make it, but thats okay.. I do my best for them. 🖤

My white Ball Python was included.. 🐍💕

He kept me informed of his process the whole time, with multiple creative options and the bouncing off of ideas.

side note: Using the python’s tongue for the “i” is just *chef’s kiss 🤌

He included my favorite t-rex hybrid (ofc from @gtnursery a while back). She recently (just yesterday) produced seeds, so im excited for what’s to come with her. 🖤💕

@1201_cacti also incorporated pieces of my Tribal Seal into his design as well.. which means a lot to me.
- The “seven sisters” stars twinkling along the top (representing our original 7 bands/tribes, as well as representing the pleiades constellation we hold dear)

- The peace pipe with the 4 feathers represent our 4 remaining main tribes: Wichita, Tawakoni, Kichai and Waco.

An amazing one of a kind piece, by an amazing one of a kind artist. Ty @1201_cacti , and ty @caudexappreciator ✨ by @1201_cacti

A Community Plant Swap with real people real plants at a real shop @gtnursery We’ll be bringing plants out to offer, but the fun thing about these events is Oscar says EVERYONE can do the same. Bring something special to sell or trade at a table of your own in front of all the LA plant collectors. This is your chance. I hope everyone can come out, make it your first time even. Just show up and see what we’re all growing.

This art piece made by @1201_cacti is absolutely sick, real art by real people. Like it should be. by @1201_cacti
