With 320+ publications, 22,000+ citations, an h-index of 76 and 9 patents, he is among the leading researchers in sustainable energy technologies. 🎤 Dr. Angelos Lappas Research Director at CPERI/CERTH and Scientific Director of the LEFH Laboratory, leading cutting-edge research in catalytic reaction engineering, biomass conversion, sustainable fuels and industrial catalysis. The 18th Panhellenic Symposium of Catalysis is proud to welcome two internationally renowned scientists who are shaping the future of catalysis, sustainable energy and green chemistry. 🎤 Professor Gabriele Centi A world-leading expert in heterogeneous catalysis, Professor at the University of Messina and President of the European Research Institute of Catalysis (ERIC). With more than 650 publications, 18 books, and leadership in over 30 EU research projects, his work is driving innovation in solar fuels, carbon circularity and sustainable chemical production. 🎤 Professor David Kubička Professor at the University of Chemistry and Technology Prague and current President of EFCATS. 🔬 Το 18ο Πανελλήνιο Συμπόσιο Κατάλυσης στο Πανεπιστήμιο Δυτικής Μακεδονίας: 250 σύνεδροι, νέες έρευνες και σύγχρονες τεχνολογίες Από τις 8 έως τις 10 Οκτωβρίου 2026, το Πανεπιστήμιο Δυτικής Μακεδονίας φιλοξένησε μία από τις σημαντικότερες επιστημονικές συναντήσεις του κλάδου στην Ελλάδα, με τη διοργάνωση του Τμήματος Χημικών Μηχανικών. 📊 Τρεις ημέρες επιστημονικών παρουσιάσεων και συζητήσεων: • 4 ομιλίες ολομέλειας • 8 κεντρικές ομιλίες • 3 τιμητικές ομιλίες αναγνώρισης επιστημονικής σταδιοδρομίας • 70 προφορικές παρουσιάσεις • 70 αναρτημένες επιστημονικές εργασίες Για πρώτη φορά στην ιστορία του Συμποσίου πραγματοποιήθηκαν παράλληλες επιστημονικές συνεδρίες, με ένα πρόγραμμα που κάλυψε ένα ευρύ φάσμα ερευνητικών αντικειμένων. ⚗️ Από την ετερογενή και ομογενή κατάλυση, τα προηγμένα υλικά, τη φωτοκατάλυση, την ηλεκτροκατάλυση και την υπολογιστική κατάλυση έως την παραγωγή υδρογόνου, την αξιοποίηση του CO₂, τη βιομάζα, τα εναλλακτικά καύσιμα και την προστασία του περιβάλλοντος, οι εργασίες παρουσίασαν τις σύγχρονες κατευθύνσεις της έρευνας και τις εφαρμογές της. Ιδιαίτερη θέση είχαν οι νέοι ερευνητές και οι νέες ερευνήτριες, που παρουσίασαν τα αποτελέσματα της δουλειάς τους, αντάλλαξαν απόψεις με έμπειρους επιστήμονες και συζήτησαν προοπτικές συνεργασίας. Στη διοργάνωση συμμετείχαν ενεργά και φοιτητές και φοιτήτριες του Πανεπιστημίου Δυτικής Μακεδονίας, υποστηρίζοντας εθελοντικά τη διεξαγωγή του Συμποσίου και αποκτώντας άμεση εμπειρία από τη λειτουργία μιας επιστημονικής συνάντησης πανελλαδικής εμβέλειας.
