Last week I had to keep my self awake before night shifts and read this in 1 sitting. Elizabeth Myers died in 1947 at the tragically early age of 34. She had 3 successful novels to her name. This book, her first, was published in 1943, to considerable acclaim. This edition is by Aspal classics.

Haddon Hall #historichomes Note the ceiling with the Talbot dog, the plaster over mantle reminiscent of the plasterwork at Hardwick Hall and Longleat. Also the portraits carved into the wood panels, of Henry Tudor and Elizabeth of York. For those who want to plan a visit, Chatsworth is a short drive from Haddon. by @1950sdr
