This right here continues to be the gift that keeps on giving. More placements on seasons 8, 9 and 10 of @sistasonbet. I haven’t physically touched an episode since 2022. For the last 5 seasons they been using my catalog. Forever grateful the music is working for me yet and still. Much love to @soundsincolor_music #musiclicensing #sync #musiccomposer by @1985.music

Huge thank you to @kahlilmaskati and @californiofilms for tapping me to bring the sound design to life. Last night with my very first time experiencing this film on the big screen and in NYC for that matter. Honored to execute the vision, and even more grateful for the opportunity for me and my brother @dubb_ujean to curate the official soundtrack.

S/O to my dawg @robbiemax one time…”The List” is still rocking 10 years later.

Soundtrack is out now on all streaming platforms—go tap in! 🎧🔊🔥 @1985.music

I would like to submit my 2020-2025 run as one of the most under appreciated indie runs from any North Carolina based artist.

Let’s start with my first studio album- #QuantumLeap produced by @planb85

A project we cooked up in his living room has since went on to solidify

The lead single #Rings brought my style of “edgy nerd rap” to the forefront of Charlotte culture…

…and the people took notice….

…and the word kept spreading….

….and spreading….

Even earning my first of several placements like this one from the @hbomax series #Southside

But I still had more to say… more limits to push…. Being a multi hyphenate creative I wanted a way to combine all my disciplines into one project …. So… I wrote a comic book…. And record a soundtrack for it…. And then made the soundtrack the score for the short film.

#EnterTheJanna
The world of @thepaperbackherosaga

That project earned me my very first cover story with the GREAT @queencitynerve 🙏🏾 🫡 💯

…my first retail placement with @heroesonline

….and my first grant from @asccharlotte

But I still had more to do…. I wanted to create an ecosystem in which all those things could live and thrive… a place, not just for myself, but for all creators and lovers of creativity to have a place to just “be”…. So I created @sounds.sneakersnsuperheroes

…started teaching kids, adults and anyone who wanted to learn how to do what I do!

But of course…. I still got more music in me! So I dropped #TheTonyParkerEP with my brother from another @tony7ife

…still rapping circles around your favorite rappers….

#TheTonyParkerEP keeping the theme consistent…. #IronManSpiderMan #TonyStark #PeterParker

But…. I’m not done yet….

In 2025 I hit a milestone…. I turned 40…. I celebrated by dropping another album. This time I brought the fam with me…

I wanted to do a project with all the people that mean the most in my life….

The lead off single #Tangled featuring background vocals from my wife @babytaz85 continues to make waves and remains in my top 3 most played songs…

This album also celebrates the life of my long time mentor @malcolmjamalwar who lent his voice to the intro of the album 🙏🏾 🕊️

Thank you all for making this last 5 y taken in Charlotte, North Carolina by @1985.music

About 6 years ago I met these 2 brothers @loyaltyistimeless from Birmingham AL at a studio in Atlanta. Our Introduction to each other and the beginning of our journey started with them freestyling over some beats that I did on my iPad in a room full of people @the.kolab studios. From then on my connection with these two flourished.
The music that we’ve made any time we connect has been magic. Even the executives at FOX had to take notice.
Every verse came with a Message.

Fast forward to today, I still don’t know how I snuck on this album I’ll let them tell that side. Their latest project The Message is available now and on its way to a 1 Million streams in under a month. Track 5 “On Mama” (produced by me) is on its way to 500,000 streams (if it hasn’t already hit that mark) thank you to everyone who has been sharing and commenting. More music on the way. Salute to @brianbflatcook on the production and the mixing. Salute to @loyaltyistimeless_zoe for managing behind the scenes. @mogwap_ace2fly you smoked this joint bro. My loyalty to these brothers is timeless and forever… put that on Mama …hey Joy 😉 by @1985.music

I’m laughing and crying at the same time. Too much going on. The summer just started.

King Of Newark is now on @starz right now.

10 years is a long time. This is as the first movie I worked as a sound designer and sound recordist (boom mic operator) back in 2016.

10 years ago @upperclasstwon and I dropped his debut album “Stay Golden”. The song you’re hearing is “Too Committed” feat Smoke DZA off that album . Our first movie placement 10 years ago.

10 years ago I worked with same brothers I’m connected with today the director @ebbfriday the executive producer @hroyalfamily the composer @iamp.carrera my whole squad is in this movie @iammrwonder @robbiemaxx @dubb_ujean @papistorz and so many others. Big Jersey sh*t.

It takes 10 years to be an overnight success. Don’t be dumb.

Go watch it right now on Starz. Newark Proud.

Music Supervisor - Crystal (pour_lamour_de) although she was uncredited she put a lot of working in on the music placements behind the scenes

From south 12th street to @starz is crazy.

🎬 FROM SOUND DESIGN TO THE OFFICIAL SOUNDTRACK 🎬

We are incredibly hyped to celebrate the premiere of the short film Holmes at the @laliff_ Festival last night. This project holds a massive place in our hearts, and we wanted to share the story of how this whole thing came together.

It all started when the executive producer, @el_emrtnz and @kahlilmaskati brought me on board simply to do the sound design. After a couple meeting, Khalil mentioned they needed some extra music for specific spots in the film, even though they already had a composer.

I sent over a batch of tracks, and Kahlil immediately hit me back: "This song HAS to be the ending credits."

From there, the vision is completely locked in. Kahlil was so specific and intentional with where he wanted every sound to live. He invited us out to the LA set, so Dub flew out, and we got to experience the magic firsthand. The energy on set was amazing—everyone was so cool. We actually didn't even recognize @ajuliomacias (from Netflix’s On My Block, Border Hunters) at first, but you could instantly feel his massive presence and talent.

Fast forward a bit—Kahlil started sending us scenes showing how they were utilizing our music, and it completely blew us away. Seeing our sound mesh with the visuals inspired Dub and me to lock ourselves back in the studio and create a few more tracks specifically tailored for the film.

That’s when I asked Khalil if we could take on the official soundtrack for Holmes... and he gave us the green light! 🚦

✨ This marks the very first official Soundtrack created by @1985.music & @dubb_ujean Gade Music. ✨

We will be sharing the screening schedules for the film as they get announced. Until then, go do yourself a favor and check out the soundtrack! 🎧
