One year ago today I was diagnosed with breast cancer, specifically invasive lobular breast carcinoma, grade 2. Because of my strong family history of breast cancer, I was tested 12 years ago for the gene and that was negative. I have been faithful in getting my yearly diagnostic mammograms for the last 14 years except 2021…I skipped a year because my GYN had retired. I didn’t know who I wanted to go to and diagnostic mammograms have to be physician-ordered. So it had been 2 years since my last mammogram when the cancer was discovered. The diagnosis itself is of course a hard thing to hear but mentally processing it and educating yourself is exhausting. The next 5 weeks consisted of talking to friends/acquaintances who have been through it, exploring options, surgical consultations, further tests like CT scan, MRI, bone scan, bloodwork, more mammograms, more genetic testing, oncologist consult, pre-surgical tests, and lots of needle sticks, anxiety, tears, and prayers. It’s a weird time knowing you have cancer. In one respect you feel so alone going through it, but you also feel so loved and prayed for by your closest family and friends. The past year has been a hard one physically and emotionally but all along I have felt God in the details. He has been obvious in ways like directing me to the best surgeons and doctors, protecting us when I totaled my car on the way to an out of state surgical consult, sending the nicest couple that witnessed the wreck to assist us (while on their way for her to consult with the exact same surgeon out of state!—crazy story), to even the smallest of details like the gift of a paper clip when I woke up post-op (even crazier story!). I know without a doubt God has been with me. When I’ve been weak, He made me strong…2 Corinthians 12:10 is truth! I’m also so thankful for my family and friends who have been with me, prayed for me, physically taken care of me, brought meals, sent flowers, cards, candy, and care packages, as well as those who would just text, message, or call just to check on me. So eternally grateful for all the love, care, and support. 💗💗💗 PSA: Ladies, get your yearly mammogram and be gene tested! 💗 by @1kimwilliams
October Faves …From Memphis to DC to Birmingham to Gulfport…I love being there to love on and celebrate all of my special people. Finding joy in the big and small things of everyday life is important in this chapter of life. 🧡🧡🧡 by @1kimwilliams
One year ago I hesitantly tried a new hobby, needlepointing, because my girls were encouraging me to join them. I quickly became obsessed and was so intentional in choosing canvases that evoked memories or that I related to in some small way. Deciding that I wanted to create all ornaments for a needlepoint Christmas tree for 2026, I’m pretty proud of the 26 that I completed…26 finished and 21 Finished…and yes there’s a difference in lowercase finished and capital Finished 🤪). Although I didn’t hit my goal of 50 ornaments for the year, I seriously found so much peace and joy in creating these little keepsake beauties that I’m drawn to for the memories. 💙 And I have soooo many more I’m anxious to add to my collection! Also, I have to add there are so many sweet and helpful ladies in the needlepoint community, and I’m thankful for my LNS @stitchersmemphis who never fail to help me. 💙 #needlepoint by @1kimwilliams
Together is my favorite place to be…💙💙💙 Sweet weekend in Texas to celebrate the beautiful wedding of my niece, Katie & Jake. Cheers to the Dahls! by @1kimwilliams
One of the best parts of wedding weekend was Caroline & Andrew serving as Honorary Duckmasters in the iconic Peabody Hotel’s Duck March! Meeting the amazing @kenon_walker and learning from the best was so fun! The rest of the night included wedding rehearsal with the best @charlesericbrand, a fun rehearsal dinner at @rendezvousmemphis hosted by @debbie_branch & Rusty Branch, and a few hours of fellowship with friends & family in Peabody’s beautiful lobby bar. What a great start to wedding weekend for Caroline & Andrew! 🤍🤍🤍 by @1kimwilliams

It’s wedding week for my littlest girl and I can hardly believe it! She’s been “my girl” all of her life and in my heart she always will be, but my sweet Caroline is marrying the love of her life @_andrewbranch in 5 days. I’m so thankful for their love and the sweet relationship that they have together. I pray God continues to bless them throughout this marriage, and we can’t wait to celebrate together with the sweetest family and friends! 🤍 by @1kimwilliams
