goldfish >< ,•>

bubbles of breath flutter to the top
it decides whether or not it should stop

would anyone care to listen?
its scales can only glisten

people send quick glances
they stare when it dances

but when sad simple words are spoken
the words are nothing but useless one cent tokens

there are millions judging of eyes
each of them like sharp knives

it wonders what it would feel like to disappear
it jumps to the top hoping for something sincere

only then do tears run down cheeks
when it is no longer there to speak

this was the first poem i ever wrote (written on 10/12/2022 to be exact)!! it was for an assignment during my sophomore year of high school. i am so thankful for that assignment because:
it was quite a tough year… i was dealing with some pretty intense depression that was difficult to open up about. this poem helped me do that!
to provide some literal context - i had a pet goldfish that lived for 6+ years… i won him from a carnival game in kindergarten or first grade, and my parents weren’t aware of what proper goldfish care looked like… so, it’s safe to say that the goldfish was on the receiving end of some REALLY Inadequate care. when he passed away, i was kind of glad ;_; he didn’t have to suffer in that terrible environment anymore...
my poem was inspired by that fish. i weirdly related to him in a way, so i wanted to express how i was feeling through him. it was easier to tell my story through something else, which you may notice is a pattern in my other poems (even to present day).

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
if you read all that, thank you so much!!! poetry is a huge outlet for me that i haven’t shared with many people before (and never online). i hope to share more soon! as of right now, i have written around 12 poems of various lengths. even though my first was in 2022, i’ve only really been writing for 3 years. i didn’t write ANY poems in 2024 or 2025…
but anyways, thank you for your time!!! feel free to lmk ur thoughts in the comments or dms :)
bye! by @1loopsie
"The only way the Pisces were able to get up to the surface was to make musical fishlets good enough and consistently enough for Human enjoyment.
Our main character, Maicha, wants to be next up. She's tired of working at McDolphin's, Five Gills, and Burger Koi. She needs that job as a renowned surface-dwelling fishletsmith. And no one can stop her from getting it."
Expect my debut album to be out and in your hands between today, February 18, to March 20.
Happy Pisces season :) album previews will be found on my Bandcamp/Instagram bio.
Art of Maicha working at McDolphins by @layloopsie or @1loopsie!!
Note from Pebby:
If you guys noticed, some songs you've heard from me are either missing or sound different! That's because I'm replacing them with the album versions that have different vocals. To extend my vocal range and change tonality, I had previously used pitch modulator+vocal converter tools that I feel are unethical in 3 of this album's singles: this song found you, your discord kitten, and he doesn't call me pretty anymore. I don't feel good about keeping those versions up. They are now in the process of getting replaced on all platforms using Benn Jordan's plugin Voice-Swap, and the website Resemble. I thank them for keeping their vocal tools ethical!! Thank you to my friend Ollie as well for encouraging me to take action and open up about those songs publicly instead of ignoring it. by @1loopsie
