Back home from our visit to Cori and the Santa Fe Opera. She sent us home with a portrait of Lola that perfectly captures Lola’s little pouty face. by @1smelisa

Lola turns 18 this spring and is finally showing her age. Blind in one eye from cataracts. Not much interested in food. A little shaky on her feet at times. Got the news yesterday that she has stage 2 kidney disease, but the vet thinks more may be going on and wants to do an ultrasound. We’re taking the weekend to decide. She’d have to be anesthetized, which isn’t great at her age. But she definitely wouldn’t lay still on her back for 20 minutes otherwise. This little girl isn’t just my shadow; she’s an extension of me. My days revolve around her. She gets me out of bed in the morning and makes me go to bed at night. Between this and current events news, I’m trying to focus on exactly what’s in front of me at any given moment. Five minutes ago and five minutes from now don’t exist. I can’t let them and still function. by @1smelisa

The sweetest angel baby purr machine, who had so much love in him that he had a heart on his back, passed away early this morning. Our hearts are broken. by @1smelisa
