Last night, I had the honor and pleasure of featuring at Uptown Social. Shout out to @foodforthesoul9 for always supporting the artists! It was a LOVELY time!

You KNOW I had to bring my community along for the ride!!!!

I'm obsessed with @renemanuelramos. Like OBSESSED. The way you are always my favorite poem in a room is crazy! Your pen is as beautiful as your spirit. I love the conversations we have at every show, I always feel like you just get me!

I've been watching you, @alex.aimee.kist for a while now. I have always loved the depth and beauty of your work... but to see the way yo move through community with so much love and intention revitalizes my hope for humankind.

@durmerrick taught me the song we all sang together last night... Thank you, Poet. The poem you spit at the welcome ceremony at BNV still sits with me. You have the ability to move folks on a spiritual level.

I have always loved you, @philcalexander_. I believe you have the most gracefully powerful ability to command a stage. Every time I see you in the room, my spirit is excited for what you'll throw! Your growth is so undeniable... your talent, unquestionable. I'm always rooting for you, Poet.

@thisiskeyma, you are one of the most powerful people coming out of Bad Ass Baltimore!!! I think you're a great performer, we all know that, but as someone who considers myself a bit of a lyricist, you are an absolute MONSTER with a pen. Please stop slamming in slams I'm in. Thanks.

If there is anybody on this planet who is JUST AS BIG BOSTON AS ME, IT HAS TO BE @hennydemic. Guille, you are a gem. Having you in community means I'm safe and I'm at home. I can't tell you how much I appreciate you and your dedication to EVERYONE. Also being a fire ass poet just feels unfair, but I'm gon let you have that one too, being we from the same city and all!

I ain't got no million followers or nothing and IDC. I'm bringing COMMUNITY with me everywhere I go, and if we all agree to follow each other on this here social media thing, we're growing our community and helping to create more opportunities for everyone!

On Sunday morning at 9:13 a.m., my partner called me to inform me that she had been involved in a car accident. Not only was our car completely totaled, but she was badly injured.

Northbeast was at 7 that evening.

My team trained for months.
Our coaches put in so many hours. They poured everything into us.

I had to tell them that I couldn't make it, and as hurt as I was to have to miss out, the decision was made for me the minute I got that call.

Do you know what these poets did? They held space for me. They loved on me. Not one person on my team tried to make me feel guilty. Not one person said anything other than kind words. Each of them asked how they could support us. They were willing to bow out of the competition. They were willing to be disqualified. They were willing to do anything I needed them to do. The only thing I asked of them was to win.

AND THEY DID THAT SHIT!!!

Not only did they win, they did it with LOVE. Each team on final stage agreed to allow my coach to read my piece so that my voice was represented in the room. (THANK YOU ALL!!!) My team reworked the group piece to account for my lines. They delivered breathtaking performances and they brought me with them each step of the way.

This is love.
When I came back into poetry, I was afraid to be hurt by the poets... instead, I've been loved and supported in a way I didn't know I needed or desired.
This is love.
Y'all are my family, too.
I'm honored to be a part of this unit.
I can't say thank you to you all enough.
Thank you. I love you. I'll never forget how y'all carried me.

I NEVER take as many pictures as I wish I would've, but...

BRAVE NEW VOICES!!!!

A few things. Y'all know I'm wordy.

First... I tend not to post other people's kids if I can help it. You don't see my team, but when I tell you I couldn't be more proud of them, I'm not lying!!! I laughed, I sat in awe, I wept. Two of our pieces were also voted best of BNV!!!! THEY ARE AMAZING! CONGRATULATIONS NOR'EASTERS!!!

Connecticut and Baltimore are known champions. Everybody in the Northeast knows that. Look at me cheesing next to legends. This is real life, yall. Shout out to #InkTheory! East Coast, BEAST COAST! 💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿

San Francisco art was actually too beautiful to film. You must experience it in your own body.

The pigeons eat with the people. They all birds.

Dear San Francisco, why y'all busses got tracks at the top? (FIVES ALL DAY!)

I love all the people I met and ran into.
I ADORE you, Darius. I hate that we didn't get a photo... but you were my favorite!!!
Durmerrick is that one, yall... I am going to study every poem you ever created and then I'm going to anxiously wait for you to create more.
J had the best energy! I really love the way you embody love!
Giddy was the funniest person by far. We also didn't get a photo, but we damn sure gon see each other again!!!

Dear NBA and WNBA, do you not want me to watch basketball ever again???

I'm starting to take these things personally...

Jaylen Brown... I was born and raised in this city. As much as I love Big Boston, I'm also aware of what this city is. WE love you, but THEY didn't deserve you. It's heartbreaking to see you go, the energy and spirit you brought to our city meant everything to US. Don't let THEM ever make you think differently. You will always be our MVP.

Chennedy Carter... no one wanted to see you back in a WNBA uniform more than I did... seeing you in an Aces uniform was epic for me. After the Lynx, the Aces are my favorite team. You are in my top 5 players. I love your grit! No one is faster than you and your ability to be an elite scorer can not be discounted. You were drafted number 4! You would've been rookie of the year of it weren't for an injury!!!! I am hoping to read that you get picked up elsewhere ASAP.... but to see you leave one of my favorite teams like this hurts.

Y'all know I love basketball.
It's getting INCREASINGLY harder to love a sport where I see my people dominate, but they still struggle to acquire the respect they deserve and the power to make their own decisions...

I think I need to take a break... however... I will watch Jaylen in that PA uniform. I will root for JAYLEN against my raggedy Celtics. Call me whatever you want to call me.
I will watch if any team picks up CHENNEDY. I will root for HER over my Aces. These teams aren't even ours... but the players are ours in a special way. I'm team Jaylen and team Chennedy! Forever! by @1trukwene

Oh y'all want to know what I did for independence Day???
I've been so excited to tell you!!! On JUNETEENTH, I was in Chelsea, MA, celebrating with the Chelsea Black Community!!!!
I'm so grateful for being able to celebrate our FREEDOM!!! I also got a cool ass hat that I love very much!!!!

As always, shout out to Joan and her AMAZING team! The hospitality is UNMATCHED.
