Once wasn't enough

Hein Wagner posing with the car he would eventually do 269km/h in

Helicopter Footage. Hein Wagner, born blind, first made history in 2005, becoming the world’s fastest blind driver after reaching 269 km/h in a Maserati GranSport on an airstrip at Mafikeng. The Maserati was provided by Viglietti Motors, the South African Ferrari and Maserati importer, with Ray Wakefield serving as his navigator

But the record didn’t last, and Hein was in search of something faster.

A brand new SL65 Black Series would do the trick. Hein was determined to reclaim his speed record, and in 2009, he returned to the runway in Upington, this time with the help of Johannesburg businessman Lolly Jackson, who lent him his SL65 AMG Black Series. Hein drove the car to an astonishing 322.5 km/h, reclaiming the World Blind Land Speed Record and holding the speed over the measured kilometre. taken in Upington, Northern Cape by @2000o00
