Sometimes you get a glimpse of what you’ve created and the impact it has had on others, and speaking at @eritreansintech gave us that.

We live in an attention economy, where likes, views, comments, and followers can become shorthand for success. But attention gets you noticed; community builds trust. And trust is how you build a company that lasts.

After we spoke, so many women came up and shared how what we’ve created had become part of their lives. One had followed our blog, Feven & Helena, #TheTwinship, since 2012. Another proudly held up her Peppa Mint lip gloss from our Oprah’s Favorite Things collection. Another kept her Asmara Liquid Velvet Lipstick container as a keepsake. And another bought four “Habesha Girls Got the Sauce” T-shirts for her friends in 2017, and they still have them.

That, in many ways, is entrepreneurship. The path is rarely linear. Ours went from a blog to beauty, but the through line has always been service: using whatever platform we have to empower, uplift, and shed light on our beloved Eritrea.

Being surrounded by Eritreans made it even more meaningful. Our parents’ sacrifices created opportunities for us, and with opportunity comes responsibility.

People told us they felt seen. We felt seen too.

By logic, Eritrea should not exist. A small nation endured a 30-year war for independence against extraordinary odds because generations before us were willing to sacrifice for something larger than themselves.

We look forward to the day when fewer people ask, “Where is Eritrea?” because the ideas, creativity, and contributions of Eritreans around the world have made our presence impossible to overlook.

To everyone who bought a ticket, traveled to be there, purchased a product, or took the time to speak with us: thank you.

Thank you to @yonnie3137, everyone behind the EriSummit 2026, and every person who made it possible. Thank you to Liah for moderating with intention, and to our fellow panelists. You inspire us all.

And if you’re reading this, thank you for your time too.

In the spirit of Dr. Maya Angelou: we come as 1, and stand as 10,000. That, to us, is community.
