The sun is setting on our @1192sqft chapter. We’ve put a ton of work into this little place (hopefully it shows 🤔) and now it’s time to focus on our next project.

We’re definitely going to miss this one! 🥺

Shout out to our amazing agent @heatherteemsrealtor for working with us on buying, and now selling this lil’ cutie!

PS. A name change is in the works 🤠

Once we took possession of the keys last summer, I figured we’d get in, do a little bit of demo, get all the new electrical and plumbing installed, and we’d be able to start to putting things back together again in about 7-8 weeks.

Boy, that timeline sure went out the window! Our first electrician (who we’d used before, and very happy with) ended up falling off the face of the earth mid job. Ugh! Luckily, we had an amazing backup! However, there went a quick 6-7 weeks with that whole ordeal.

Our plumbers wanted to wait for the electrical to get finished up, so that gave us (well, just @galpalvalpants that is) plenty of time (another couple of weeks) to get all the necessary demo done. On TV, demo looks fun & amazing, but in reality it’s the absolute worst! Who wants to be jackhammering and pry barring all day long for a week or so, yeah, no one, it’s beyond exhausting.

Anyhow, by the time we got the plumbers in and they were getting close to finishing up (holidays upon us) we were already pushing into the new year. While we were waiting for their scheduled return (of course, a few more weeks pass), we tunneled under the house to ease future accessibility in case anything should go awry. I would definitely hire this out next time! 🤣

Finally, towards the middle of February, we were able to get in and start rebuilding everything that we had torn apart from the previous months before 😅

The summer heat is kickin’ as we start off August in Tejas this year. Wiley J found a cool spot on the terrazzo.

In July, we said goodbye to 1192sqft. We’ve moved into the new place, and it’s time to chip away at our biggest project yet. Howdy from the 2545sqft of reno in Fort Worth!

Just a little trip down ol’ Cedar Fence Lane from last August.

This fence project definitely ended up being a bit bigger than anticipated, which seems to be the common ongoing theme with this house. 🤣

First, we did some brush clearing, then sold a shed! From there, the post hole digging commenced. 65 of them, all around 4’ish feet deep for an eight foot fence. We woulda gone just six foot; however, WJ demonstrated to us that he can get over one!

Anyhow, after many weekends and countless hours after work (weeks), multiple pallets of concrete, thousands upon thousands of screws, & a sweet stain job by @galpalvalpants later, we got’r done!

Everyone loves a good “Before” gallery. Here she is in all her 1957 glory. 3 BR/2.5 BA 2545 sqft. First interior project, updating the original wiring. Electricians have been there all week and demo has begun (keep following along for those “progress” pics, we are in the it gets worse before it gets better phase)! #fortworth #homerenovation taken in Fort Worth, Texas by @2545fw

A few months back while we were out of town, we had a drunk driver plow through our “hell strip” portion of our front yard in the late hours of the night. Luckily, only the cacti were casualties.

To stay with our theme, we put in a 1,200lbs galvanized stock tank to act as a bollard in case it happens again. Coincidentally, we needed to contain some wandering Opuntia Pina Colada and paired the two together!

Oaxaca getaway. Agave, art, alebrijes, and adventures. Gracie was never far from our mind and it’s hard to return home knowing she isn’t waiting to greet us. Thanks to all for your kind words and support. taken in Oaxaca by @2545fw

We said farewell to our beloved Gracie Allen yesterday. Our original adventure pup, she traveled with us from state to state, trekked miles of trails, and got to see the mountains and ocean too. 16 years was a blessing, but still not enough. We will love her and miss her always. We will post more when we are ready, but we coincidentally booked a trip away this weekend and are using the time to reminisce and grieve together. #gracieallenforever #thegracieallen by @2545fw

Office/2nd bedroom refresh. Swipe ➡️ to see 3 years of trial and error as we tried several layouts and paint colors. Custom desks by @trailyeah, while @galpalvalpants leaned how to tile on feature wall. Tile courtesy of our rad neighbor @eringautreaux. Fav small detail is the picture frame collage with letterpress cards we’ve given each other over the years. #1192sqft #renovation #fortworth taken in Fort Worth, Texas by @2545fw

Side yard Silver Cloud Sage study.

>>> Scroll to hide our gas meter! 🤯

The first year, they really struggled; in fact, we thought we were gonna lose all three of them. Then, towards the end of last year they about tripled in size.

Now, two years in they are thriving out of control!
