We Are 26th MEU(SOC) 🦅🌎⚓

✅ The 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) (MEU(SOC)) has officially been certified as Special Operations Capable following the completion of Composite Unit Training Exercise (COMPTUEX) by Headquarters Marine Corps and II Marine Expeditionary Force and certified for deployment by Fleet Marine Force, Atlantic and U.S. Fleet Forces Command, July 6, 2023.

The designation of MEU(SOC) is a first for the Marine Corps in more than a decade. The designation continues to demonstrate the Marine Corps’ ability to partner with, compliment, enable, and to integrate with the Joint and Coalition Special Operations Forces in support of daily campaigning, crisis response, and integrated deterrence missions.

For the first time, #TeamProteus Marines and @usnavy sailors from across the 26 MEU and its major subordinate elements came together for a MAGTF-wide physical training event at @camp.lejeune .

The motivational run brought the MAGTF together to build camaraderie, unit cohesion, and espirit de corps across the unit and its major subordinate elements in preparation for its upcoming deployment.

The 26th MEU is utilizing the Neros Archer first-person view drone to demonstrate how rapidly adaptable systems can increase battlefield lethality at the tactical level. In a notable first, the Neros Archer FPV was launched in a sea-based environment during a command post exercise, highlighting the platform's flexibility and the 26th MEU's ability to employ Organic Precisions Fires - Light capabilities in maritime situations.

"The addition of the Neros Archer comes at a critical time," according to the Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory/Futures Directorate. "Modern conflicts have demonstrated how rapidly evolving technologies like FPV drones can shift the balance on the battlefield. By embracing innovation and fostering collaboration, MCWL ensures that U.S. forces remain not only relevant but dominant in an ever-changing operational landscape."

FPV drones represent more than an emerging technology-they provide a practical way to extend reach, increase precision, and give small units a more responsive organic lethal capability. Modern Warfare 💣

Marines with BLT 1/8, the Ground Combat Element for the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, executed three successful precision strikes against static targets aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina—the first Bolt-M live-fire event conducted aboard Camp Lejeune.

The training validated the operational employment of the Bolt-M loitering munition system, a key component of the Marine Corps’ Organic Precision Fires-Light (OPF-L) initiative designed to increase battalion lethality and provide commanders with additional precision-strike options at the tactical edge.

For the 26th MEU, OPF-L represents a modernization of how small units generate effects on the battlefield. By providing an organic precision-strike capability at the battalion level, Marines gain greater flexibility to respond to emerging threats, support maneuver, and shape the battlefield while complementing existing fires and aviation capabilities.

The successful live-fire demonstrates the Marine Corps’ continued effort to rapidly integrate emerging technologies into operational formations—building a more lethal, flexible, and distributed MAGTF capable of generating effects across the modern battlefield.
