🇺🇸📖 For a while now, I've been asking myself what kind of content I want to create.The internet is full of trends, AI Slop, outrage, and content that's forgotten almost as quickly as it's posted. We need less junk that only lasts for a few hours.So beginning July 4th, America's 250th birthday, I'll be reading one chapter of the Bible every day from the 1599 Geneva Bible – Patriot's Edition.I chose the Geneva Bible because it's one of the most influential English Bibles ever printed. Before the King James Version, it shaped generations of English-speaking Christians and occupied an important place in the history of both the Church and the early American colonies. I also chose this Bible because it was stamped out by a king! It wasn't banned or burned though, it was intentionally replaced. The Geneva Bible wasn’t replaced because a newer, better, translation came along. Its notes challenged the idea that earthly kings had unquestionable authority, and King James wanted those notes gone. That history matters to me, especially starting this on July 4th for America' 250th 🇺🇸Starting on Independence Day also isn't an accident. Genesis 21 is a chapter of fulfilled promises, difficult decisions, and new beginnings. Isaac is born just as God promised, Sarah's laughter is transformed into joy, Hagar and Ishmael are cared for by God in the wilderness, and Abraham makes a covenant at Beersheba. Genesis 19Today's reading is Genesis 19.This chapter is a real reminder that God's justice is real, but so is His mercy. Even in the midst of widespread wickedness, the Lord remembers His promises and provides a way of escape for those He rescues. 📖 Genesis 18Genesis 18 reveals both the heart of God and the relationship He desires with His people. God doesn't act carelessly or unjustly. Before judgment comes, we see conversation, patience, and compassion. Abraham boldly intercedes, asking again and again whether God would spare a city for the sake of the righteous, and God graciously listens.This chapter reminds me that God is perfectly just, perfectly merciful, and willing to engage with those who seek Him. 📖 Genesis 17Today we come to one of the great covenant chapters of Scripture.God changes Abram's name to Abraham and Sarai's name to Sarah, marking a new chapter in His plan for their lives. Their new names reflected the purpose God had already prepared for them, even before they saw His promises fulfilled.The Lord reaffirms that Abraham will become the father of many nations, that kings will come from his family line, that Sarah will bear the promised son, and that the land of Canaan will be given to his descendants. What seemed impossible by human standards was never beyond God's power.Genesis 17 is a reminder that God is faithful to His promises.
