There’s a regional Chinese spot in Long Beach called @danmodernchinese that’s serving up some seriously delicious food. They specialize in Jiangnan cuisine, a region of eastern China known for its rich culinary traditions, with a focus on handmade dumplings and noodles. First up, their soup dumplings, also known as xiaolongbao. These little parcels are meticulously handmade and filled with piping hot soup, making every bite a juicy, savory treat. I’m personally a huge fan of mapo tofu, a Sichuan classic featuring silken tofu and ground meat in a spicy, numbing sauce. It’s bold, savory, and absolutely hits the spot when paired with a bowl of white rice. And lastly, the dan mein noodles are fantastic. These thick, handmade noodles are wok-fried to bring out that smoky, savory flavor while keeping their signature chewy, bouncy texture. Simple, but an absolute must-try. If you’re looking to branch out beyond the more familiar Cantonese-inspired American Chinese fare around Long Beach, @danmodernchinese is definitely worth checking out. From handmade soup dumplings to wok-fired noodles, there’s plenty here to get excited about. by @2nd_pch
