A Week after PHAC.
Still can’t over it!

Way back 2024, I went to PHAC to watch the event and make friends with the community. Luckily, we ended up bringing home silver for team Pangasinan thru @_kapecat and bring home shirt and a bag of beans courtesy of raffle tix 😅

2025, inspired by the community, I tried joining PHAC. Im not expecting to win at all. I just wanna have the fun and experience but somehow, I just wish to pass (atleast) the elimination.

Maybe the stars were aligned that day. I was chosen to be a wildcard, until i wasnt. But the jury were kind enough to understand my situation and finally made it to the quarter finals up to the finals.

Still a nostalgic experience for me. Thank you to all who helped me, inspired me and supported me throughout this journey.

Sharing my PHAC recipe. Check the details below:

Dose: 17g coffee

Grind Size: 17 clicks on Commandante C40 Medium Fine

Brew Ratio: 1:7.94

Water: 135ml (brewed) + 50ml bypass

Water Type: Aquacode 96 PPM

Water Temperature: 86°C

Brewer Position: Traditional Position with Flow Control Cap + 3 Aeropress paper filters

Brewing Steps:

1. Insert the Flow Control Cap and stack 3 Aeropress paper filters. Place into the Aeropress chamber.

2. Add 17g of ground coffee and level it out evenly.

3. Start the timer and pour 50ml of water. Allow to bloom for 30 seconds.

4. Turn off the kettle and open its lid.

5. From 0:30 to 0:45, slowly pour in the remaining 85ml of water.

6. At 1:40,insert the plunger and press gently until the first hiss
(around 105–110ml yield).

7. Add 50ml of bypass water.

8. Let it rest for 1 minute and 30 seconds. Then serve and enjoy. taken in The Corner House by @2ronbrews

After a week of sleepless nights practicing what my Philippine AeroPress Championship recipe will be, sulit din at pinagkaloob satin ng Panginoon ang 1st Runner Up. Hindi man natin naiuwi ang ginto, napakalaking bagay para sa akin ang makapaguwi ng pilak.
