Some of the most memorable moments from this year’s Frankfurt Book Fair, photos and thoughts in no particular order: 📚 Writing preempt acceptance emails at 12:30 a.m. for our Book of the Fair: the important rediscovery, Vingt Mois à Auschwitz by Pelagia Lewińska, sold on behalf of @livredepoche — rights sold to Germany (Suhrkamp, preempt), Netherlands (Alfabet, preempt), and Hungary (Sárközy & Társai, preempt), offers in from Spain and strong additional interest from around the world. 🔮 Admiring a spot-on 78-card publishers’ tarot deck created by the amazing @blyantagency and, of course, drawing the Book Fair card! 🤧 Arriving with the tail end of a cold caught in Paris, only to lose my voice on day two (Tuesday). 💊 Feeling immense gratitude to the German editor who took pity on me at 5 p.m. on Tuesday and insisted I buy a miracle German voice-recovery medication, thanks to which I somehow managed to get through my Wednesday and Thursday meetings. 🦠 Eventually succumbing to the infamous book fair bug (or whatever was still lingering from my Paris meetings the week before) and having to cancel my Friday meetings. ❤️ Huge kudos to @chrysothemisa who came to the rescue time and again, from picking up berries at the supermarket because she knows I like them with my morning cereal, to covering about half my Friday meetings on top of her own packed schedule. 🥗 Reviving the pre-Covid vegan/vegetarian dinner tradition with a lovely group of publishing friends (let me know if you’d like to join next time!) 🏙️ Seeing the fair (and Frankfurt) from above. A different perspective on all the madness below! Another Frankfurt full of books, deals, wonderful encounters, too little sleep, and the kind of camaraderie that makes it all worthwhile. Until next year! by @2seasagency

On to the #frankfurtbookfair, the last leg of this #2seaseurotour ! Many things to be excited about, including a recent @publishingperspectives interview in which I discuss two of our highlights of the fair: ➡️ Pelagia Lewińska’s eyewitness account of life in Auschwitz, VINGT MOIS A AUSCHWITZ, originally published in France in 1945, only a few months after the end of WWII (first foreign offers in! Sold on behalf of @livredepoche), and ➡️ Ethan Rutherford’s National Book Award finalist and Barack Obama pick, NORTH SUN, a literary debut already sold to Spain (Impedimenta), Germany (Liebeskind) and Greece (Alexandria), which we handle on behalf of our brand new client @deepvellumbooks See many of you soon! by @2seasagency

🫶 #catherinegauthier #anxiété #santementale #bandedessinee by @2seasagency
