Ep 3. 'Alcohol Progress'

Gaming was not the only thing I spent a lot of time on back then.
The other one was alcohol.
Like most people who have spent enough time drinking, I have quite a few stories about it.
First, let me explain my personal preference.
In Korea, there is an expression called “Eoljuka,” which roughly means, “I’ll drink iced Americano even if I freeze to death.”
I was somewhat similar when it came to alcohol.
It had to be cold.
If I ordered a drink and it was not cold enough, I could be stubborn enough to politely ask whether they had a colder one.
I already liked cold drinks, but at the time, I also felt that the colder the alcohol was, the less I noticed its strong taste.
I first started drinking when I was twenty.
At first, I was not particularly interested in the aroma or flavor of alcohol.
I liked the feeling of becoming intoxicated and the strange sense of freedom that came with it.

Ep 2. ’Game Progress’

I do not remember my exact age, but I think I was around twenty-three.
At the time, I had a lot on my mind about music and the direction of my life. Even getting through each day felt difficult, so after finishing my work, I often looked for things that could help me forget reality for a while.
The two things I did most were gaming and drinking.
Today, I want to talk about gaming.
This might sound a little ridiculous, but even when I played games, I had my own philosophy.
“Do not inject outside money unless it is absolutely necessary.”
Simply put, I refused to spend real money on the game.
Part of the reason was that I genuinely did not have much money at the time, but I also had my own logic behind it.-
I believed that something built with money would slow down once the money stopped, and something built through effort would slow down once the effort stopped.
Looking back, I am not really sure why I was taking a game this seriously.
Anyway, I started playing an RPG.
At first, I simply enjoyed it without thinking too much. Opening the game made me feel calm, and for a while, the tension I felt in real life disappeared.
But after a few days, a strange thought entered my mind.
“Can I do something productive in here too?”
I had started the game to relax, but somehow I began looking for work inside the game as well.
Killing monsters gave me in-game currency.
So I started hunting monsters, and at some point, watching the money pile up like numbers in a bank account became more entertaining than the game itself.

The Special Story Session.
Ep 1. ’Music Progress.‘

First of all, my music usually does not begin with inspiration.

I simply sit down at my desk and open my DAW.
I use Cubase.

Most of my work begins with the piano.

Sometimes I build a chord progression within a diatonic framework, and other times I begin with the bass root notes and build the chords around them.

Once I have a basic progression, I start humming different melodies over it.

At this stage, I try not to think too deeply.

I simply follow the emotion and feeling the chords give me and record whatever melody comes out naturally.

I believe that the first melodies that appear often express my instinctive emotional response to the chords most honestly.

Then I slowly begin organizing those rough ideas.

There are generally two ways I write melodies.

Sometimes I begin with the main melody of the chorus and expand the rest of the song around it.
Other times, I start from the first verse and gradually write the song from beginning to end while balancing each section.

Once the overall shape of the melody is somewhat established, I spend a great deal of time revising the chorus.

I keep asking myself whether the melody can remain memorable even without lyrics and whether it can naturally draw the listener’s attention.

I believe melody is one of the most important elements in creating depth in music.

Just as we can be deeply moved by a piano piece without any lyrics, I believe a strong melody can communicate emotion on its own. by @2seon_official
