Mental health in the black community, specifically black men, is heavily stigmatized. It’s often looked at as taboo or feminine for men to speak on feelings or get help/go to therapy. When I first heard this Kendrick song, I immediately thought about the men in my life, how society boxes them in, the battles I’ve seen them fight, the things they’ve overcome, how tough strong they are, even when they don’t have to be. Through this piece, I wanted to express that and show that they don’t have to do it alone and it’s ok not to be ok. This piece is not only dedicated to those who have lost a battle with mental health, but those still fighting.

Last night reminded me why I do what I do! To see the joy & happiness on all 15 of their faces while performing and to see that joy multiply when they announced them as the 2nd place winner of Apollo meant the world to me. Thank you @mpacdanceclub for always allowing me the space to create. Thank you for trusting me and my choreo to Bring this home. To my dancers, it’s gang about y’all for real. All of y’all left it all on the floor literally. Thank you for always putting your best foot forward all those late nights. Thank you for the laughter, the hugs, the support. It’s been a while. Honestly, Imposter syndrome kicked my ass. A friend sent me this post not long ago & it’s been sitting heavy on my heart ever since.

Lately, I’ve feeling like my choreography wasn’t creative enough, like my art didn’t matter, like People didn’t rock with my shit. So many dances thrown away, concepts created, hella videos recorded that never saw the light of day or went past the day i taught it. All because I let me convince myself that I wasn’t good enough and I didn’t belong in this space. Keeping it a buck, I almost let my dreams of being a creative die.

Recent events have shown me otherwise. So it’s time to get back active on this page. Whether it’s one person rocking with me or one hundred thousand, it’s time to get back to doing what I love & share it with the world, and that’s create and dance. It’s time. 💕 by @2sweetchoreo

Did somebody say MPAC Week?!

We are so excited to celebrate our upcoming show and we want everybody to celebrate with us.

Tomorrow is T-Shirt Tuesday. Company members, new, seasoned, or alumni wear your favorite MPAC Gear. Not a member, find as many members or yard signs promoting our show as you can and you will win a free MPAC shirt of your own. Make sure to tag @mpacdanceclub and use #MPACStrong.

Wednesday catch our members dancing around campus passing out flyers for our show. Later that evening, grab your yoga mat & join us for a relaxing Yoga night hosted by @aramos5678. We will have limited in person space, but also stream on our IG Live.

Thursday we have esteemed alumni and @catchoreography owners @craigland119 & @todd1ne hosting a workshop that’s gonna get you moving. Free for MPAC students. $2 with Student ID. $5 General admission.

Friday we want you to get #MPACStrong with us. Post your freestyle to a song that makes you feel strong. Tag us and use #MPACStrong. We will be having a contest for all that do 😏

Saturday is the day we have all been waiting for MPAC FINALLY MAKES ITS RETURN TO THE TUCKER THEATRE STAGE!!!! Free for MTSU students & faculty but only $5 for the general public! Link to purchase tickets in the @mpacdanceclub bio!
