Posting an oldie for the last day of summer. Another summer gone by too quickly with not enough beach days 💔 Growing up I got into making art by making fan art of my favorite anime and manga. I really do miss it sometimes but im glad this piece is owned by people who truly love and geeked out about it.
Ive been getting back into production mode the past few weeks and gonna finish the year with a bunch of fun work🙈. Hope everbody enjoyed their summer vacation and makes the most of the very last day🏝

“PLAYBOY READY IN…” is on view for just a few more days at @mahara_and_co. This sculpture reimagines the countdown clocks often used to mark coming-of-age moments through a specific lens. From the early 2000s fan sites for child stars like the Olsen twins and Natalie Portman to the modern day OnlyFans countdown. This cycle of anticipation has repeated itself for decades. Seeing these same patterns emerge again and again makes me wonder if things could ever really change?

On a side note I couldn’t resist drawing inspiration from LeRoy Neiman’s Femlin art for this work. My dads had a playboy pinball machine for years now and Ive always loved the incredible graphic illustrations of Femlin also found in vintage playboy magz🐰👯‍♀️

𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭: 𝐒𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐡 & 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐚 𝐅𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐫

Sarah and Samantha Ferrer are twin ceramic artists based in Miami, Florida whose collaborative practice explores storytelling, materiality, and the evolving possibilities of clay. Both graduates of the Kansas City Art Institute with BFA degrees in Ceramics, the sisters began their artistic journey at New World School of the Arts before founding 2win! Studios in 2021. Through their shared studio practice, they create ceramic works that bridge craft and contemporary art while reflecting their connection to community, identity, and place.

Drawing from their experiences growing up in Miami and their individual paths—including Sarah’s time living in Japan through the JET Program—the Ferrer sisters have cultivated a practice rooted in collaboration and experimentation. Their work continues to expand the role of ceramics within Miami’s contemporary art scene while celebrating the power of shared narratives and handmade objects.

The Ferrer sisters will be exhibiting in Stories We Tell Ourselves, a group exhibition featuring new paintings by Mara Faúndez alongside ceramic works by Sarah and Samantha Ferrer. Co-curated by Mahara Martínez and Laurie Rojas, the exhibition explores the stories women inherit, perform, resist, and reinvent through themes of identity, vulnerability, empowerment, and lived experience.
