I need to run smaller tires in the front so I can go lower. #mitsubishieclipse #mitsubishi #car #cars #carculture #carcommunity #3geclipsegts #3geclipse #carporn #carphotography #v6 #jdm #jdmcars #loudcars #carspotting #coolcars #5spd #wrap #bodykit by @3.0spyder
This car never got a proper introduction so here it is This is my 5 spd manual 2001 Mitsubishi eclipse GT (premium package) in Sherwood pearl green This eclipse is fitted with a 3.0 SOHC N/A 6g72 making an advertised power figure of 200hp Below are all the options that the premium package included - leather seats - power seats - abs - rear windshield wiper - outside temperature gauge - internal compass - Mitsubishi/infinity’s premium sound system at the time (it’s mid) - side air bags The car was up in the Augusta Georgia area when someone botched the timing job. The belt lost tension and the front and rear camshaft gears skipped 5-6 teeth backwards causing the intake valves to slap the pistons making an awful knocking noise. The car was towed from shop to shop where the owner was told the car needed a new engine. After about a year of the car sitting the owner decided to list said car on Facebook marketplace. I was sent the listing from one of my friends and I immediately fell in love with the car, the color and perfect condition paint, the black leather seats everything about this car was perfect to me. I made the 8 hour drive to pick up the car and trailer it back home. As soon as I got it home I started tearing it apart and eventually I came to the conclusion the pistons were fine but it most definitely needed new heads. I was lucky enough that my good friend had a parts car lying around with the same 6g72 3.0, except this engine was from a 2003 eclipse GTS which made more power due to its more aggressive camshafts. So i bought the heads with the upgraded cams, did a refresh on most gaskets and seals, bought a lot of new parts including a distributor, spark plugs, fuel injectors, spark plug wires, new timing belt, new timing belt tensioner, new battery, a gts lower and upper intake manifold (I don’t have the upper one on yet), and some new vaccum lines which have yet to arrive. After fighting 20 year old exhaust bolts, that stupid timing belt, a no spark condition, and plenty of other things I Finnaly got her to start and hold idle. Huge thanks to everyone who helped and played a part in getting this car where it is, and to my dad, I love you! by @3.0spyder

Finnaly got the the full clutch kit installed aswell as the new release bearing on the trans. The trans is in and everything is hooked up. The car starts I just need to change the fluids install the axles shift cables and put everything else back together. I’m beyond happy with how this is coming out so far. by @3.0spyder
Flywheel and clutch have arrived. Motor mounts are now polyurethane. Oem release bearing is in. Transmission is getting dropped off to be inspected. I am expecting the trans to be in the car within a couple weeks if all goes according to plan by @3.0spyder
got the whole clutch hydraulic system put together. My new mounts and starter plate came in. I ordered a manual trans mount and was sent an auto mount so new one should be in soon and I Finnaly pulled the trigger on an exedy clutch kit should be in by the end of the week. Hoping to have the trans in within a couple of weeks by @3.0spyder
So at 90k miles the auto transmission in my 02 eclipse has failed so now I can Finnaly do the manual swap I’ve been collecting parts for well over a year now. I opted to drop the trans from under the car so i did not need to remove the motor which made the most sense to me given the setup I’m working with. In order to remove the trans from under the car you need to remove the crossmember to give the trans the added clearance it needs. At this moment I have all the auto trans specific parts removed including the trans and I have installed some of the new/used manual parts such as the shifter cables, shifter base, and manual pedals. While I have the car up in the air I’m going to be doing some much needed maintenance and a lot of general cleanup to the car. I’ve never done something like this so it’s all new and exciting to me I can’t wait to finish this up and Finnaly have this car banging through the gears #mitsubishieclipse #mitsubishi #car #cars #carculture #carcommunity #3geclipsegts #3geclipse #carporn #carphotography #v6 #jdm #jdmcars #loudcars #carspotting #coolcars #5spd #wrap #bodykit by @3.0spyder
