In 1997, Steve Saleen was in the pits at the LeMans 24hr Endurance Race and picked the brains of the McLaren engineers and ultimately used the mighty F1 as his benchmark for his American supercar. Unlike popular belief it wasn’t powered by a Ford engine, it was Saleen’s own 7.0L aluminum block and cylinder head casting made specifically for a mid-engined super car that made 550HP naturally aspirated and with the Twin Turbo “Competition Package made 1014HP with a 248MPH top speed. In 2010 the S7R would win the Lemans 24hr LMGT1 class.

An automatic transmission in a sports car used to be punishment, but that all changed in 2008. The ZF8 was born, lightning fast shifts, comfort and refinement, launch control and able to withstand up to 1000Nm of torque. The design was so good General Motors copied the design and swapped planetary gearsets 1 and 3 to make the 8L90 Hydramatic. Stellantis skipped that and licensed it as the TorqueFlite8. BMW dropped their DCT transmissions for it. It really was and still is that good. by @337speed

We put the @creality3dscanner Sermoon P1 through its paces prototyping a new line of Raptor R Baja-style front bumpers. 3D scanning is becoming a crucial tool for automotive prototyping and engineering so you can test before a single weld or tube has to be bent.
