The COP30 Mutirão decision is here, and it's a mixed bag. ⁠
⁠
On the one hand, we've moved closer to a just energy transition through promises and ideas including the Belém Action Mechanism, as well as stronger language around Indigenous rights than ever before.⁠
⁠
On the other hand, rich countries once again dodged their commitments, and countries will leave Belém with pledges on paper but no clear timelines or concrete funding plans for climate action. ⁠

But undeniable momentum is building for a fossil fuel phase-out roadmap, and next year will bring many more opportunities to make it a reality. ⁠

As COP30 negotiations continue into the weekend amid outrage over the fact that the latest draft text omits fossil fuels altogether, we aren't losing hope. ⁠

We draw strength from the momentum happening all around us: in the halls of Belém, at the upcoming G20 Summit, with the Colombia Declaration, and more. ⁠

The world needs courage and leadership from the Brazilian COP30 Presidency now. The Mutirão Decision (the final text) must include a clear, equitable and time-bound roadmap to phase out fossil fuels, and pressure is building. ⁠

Today we helped deliver over 700,000 signatures to Rachel Reeves at the Treasury, calling for higher taxes on the super-rich in her upcoming #UKBudget.

🚨 BREAKING: 67 Filipinos have announced legal action against Shell for its role in Super Typhoon Odette, one of the deadliest disasters to hit the Philippines.

The claimants are demanding compensation for their homes, livelihoods, and lives lost at the hands of Shell and its emissions.

Shell has known for decades that fossil fuels could cause dangerous climate change, and new research shows that the likelihood of a disaster like Odette has roughly doubled due to current warming.

We are all paying the price of Shell’s actions with typhoons, floods, and fires. These unnatural disasters are destroying what we love, and their frequency and severity are increasing.

This case is about getting justice for the claimants - but this fight is also about all of us and the future we deserve.

In a new report, @emberenergyresearch shared that the world’s wind and solar farms have generated more electricity than coal plants for the first time this year!

🔆 The world generated almost a third more solar power in the first half of the year compared with the same period in 2024, meeting 83% of the global increase in electricity demand.

⚡ Wind power grew by just over 7%, allowing renewables to displace fossil fuels for the first time.

No matter how much money Big Oil and its allies pump into keeping fossil fuels relevant, they can’t stop the inevitable.

World leaders will decide what their countries will invest into renewables at #COP30 in Brazil.

Let’s keep the pressure on to ensure fossil fuel lobbyists don’t throw them off course. by @350.uk
