‘Flying Scotsman on film’ 🚂 🎞️

LNER A3 No. 60103 Flying Scotsman seen here running on the Great Central Railway (Nottingham), for @foxandedwards events over two weekends, we decided to visit on the Monday of the May bank holiday weekend.

The first shots are taken from Rushcliffe Halt with the final shot taken from the top of Barnstone Tunnel.

Bonus points if you can spot the pigeon! 🐦

I never get tired of seeing this locomotive, special thanks go to all of the people who keep this wonderful engine from being a static exhibit in the museum and out doing what she does best on the tracks for all to enjoy 👏

Thanks must also go to the team at @nthc_ruddington for putting the measures in place to view the train safety at Rushcliffe Halt & @britishgypsum & @ruddington_grange for allowing the use of their car parks 👏

Flying Scotsman & Tornado are seen here flying through Alfreton station on their way to the Great Central Railway Nottingham to take part in a series of events hosted by @foxandedwards

The original shot I went for was blocked by a passing train in the other direction but I was quite happy with this as a backup result, I do like a steam locomotive from this angle, front 3/4 views are overrated anyway 😁😂

The locomotive hauled thousands of Flying Scotsman fans over two weekends in May, we decided to visit on Monday the 25th of the May (Bank holiday Monday).

‘Quick! Escape the end of the roll’ 🎞️✈️💨

A quirky thing about shooting film is if you don’t advance far enough when loading a new roll you will loose some of your first shot where the film has been exposed to light.

When I first started shooting film I used to advance far enough that this didn’t happen, but as I’ve gone further into my journey I’ve decided to shoot this first frame, you never know how much of the shot you will lose but sometimes you capture a gem like this 🙂

‘Tiny Trains Tuesday’ 🤏🚂

A crossover of two of my hobbies are OO gauge modelling and film photography.

Here are some shots of a OO gauge layout I built last year, a fictitious Scottish whisky distillery, it is based in the 1960s when a large amount of the industry’s goods were moved by rail and distilleries had their own locomotives that were used to shunt wagons to where they needed to be.

The layout is built inside an old wooden whisky bottle crate.

The shots are captured on @ilfordphoto black and white film and @kodak Ultramax 400 colour film.
