More bridge work. We are almost done with the bridge, and almost done with the season. Completing this bridge will mark a big milestone for accessing the next campsite and lets us start some fun new projects. More bridge building as we race to the end of the season. After taking a step back, we are now moving forward with the 2x12s instead of the RR ties as the trusses. Here’s the end of the first weekend of building the bridge. Plans change while you progress in a project, and being flexible to making these changes is only going to make future projects go well. As we approach the end of the season, there’s one final large project we want to tackle. Building this bridge will get us into the deep part of our actual land where we can start all our major projects we’ve been dreaming up. Here’s my labor day weekend wrap up. We’re happy with the road progress. Basically all we need to do is more smoothing with the box scraper, but the ripping teeth are all messed up and I need to order some replacement parts. Looking forward, we have a bridge to build, campsite plans to brainstorm and end of season preparations to make. Over Labor Day weekend, we got to a point with the driveway project to where we can finally look ahead and start new projects. This culvert project was one of the final hurdles. After was just a little more widening and dragging around the box scraper. All work and no play makes Johnny a dull boy. Not all of our labor needs to be sweating out in the forest and clearing a path. I’m starting to shave and store some fresh logs to use in the future. I’m almost caught up with these driveway improvement videos. It’s been a major project this summer, which means there’s lots of content to share. We will only be happy with our decision to focus on this now, and not just dealing with it later. All this driveway work wasn’t our intention coming into this summer, just like this crap wood staging area wasn’t in my plans for that weekend. We’re so close to actual builds, but the season’s end is getting closer and closer. The driveway videos are probably getting boring, but’s it’s overtaken our labor for the last few weeks. We’ve been putting the final touches on the driveway and our focus is starting to change to ‘end of season’ tasks. Our July and August has been a lot of road work. In this stretch, the corduroy road has been a major improvement. This here is the result of the 2nd weekend at this spot. Time will only tell if this holds up to the winter and spring, but we can only keep trying.
