This clip is from our very first gig back in February last year. It was only 6 months into the project and a few weeks out of hospital. It was a huge learning curve and one I’ll remember for ever. This is not the original audio though as it was not good enough to share. To be honest I was not ready or good enough.

Over the last year I’ve lived these songs — recording them, refining them, singing them 1000 times.
Funny thing is, even though I wrote them, I still had to really learn them and my craft

It feels different now.

Can’t wait to get our first album out 2nd March

Then bring on the album launch — 7th March at Solbar.
This will be one hell of a gig!!!!

Tell by your eyes

It’s about a guy finding out his wife has been cheating, and everything comes to a head that evening. It’s raw, emotional and probably one of the most feeling-driven songs I’ve written.

But here’s the strange part…

This song actually started life as a love song called Fresh Air, from the Lost Tapes album. When I first recorded Fresh Air, I didn’t like it at all.

So one night, while I was watching a movie and waiting for the kettle to boil, I started rewriting it.

That became In Your Eyes, which ended up on Lost Tapes. Then last year I recorded it again with the full band, changed some of the lyrics and melodies, and eventually it became Tell it like it is

Not every song needs to be upbeat. Not every story needs a happy ending.

Sometimes you need the heartbreak and the sadness too.

Because you need all of it to feel human.

It’s hard when life gets in the way of your dreams.

That’s the reality for so many people. All the responsibilities… sometimes there’s just too much to sacrifice to chase the dream you had when you were younger.

But maybe the dream doesn’t have to disappear.

Maybe we just find another way.

So if we can’t give it everything, let’s give it everything we’ve got.

Let’s make the best album we can.
One that outlives us.
One that our kids can listen to.
One that will still mean something 20, 30, 40 years from now.

Because dreams don’t expire. 🎸

“Stayed The Same” was written during one of the hardest periods of my life.

I was broke, I’d just become a dad to a beautiful baby girl, and honestly, I didn’t know how to cope.

On the outside, everything looked fine. When people came around, I’d put on a brave face. I’d smile, carry on and pretend everything was normal.

But inside, I was broken.

The song is about those hidden demons we carry — the things nobody sees because we get so good at pretending everything is okay.

And the strange thing is, looking back now, I realise I was waiting for the people and things around me to change.

But they weren’t the problem.

I was the one who needed to change.

Sometimes nothing around you changes until you decide to change something within yourself.

That’s what “Stayed The Same” means to me.

And hearing it now takes me straight back to that version of myself — the one who was struggling, but didn’t know how to say it. by @3_year_project_

That dream started over 20 years ago while travelling across America. Today, it’s still the reason I keep going.
Some dreams don’t fade with time. They grow louder.
