They were never separated to be punished. They were separated to become.
At the highest level is Aql (عقل)—the portal of the Mind.
Before they found each other, they first had to learn how to see.
This led them to Basira (بصيرة)—the portal of Inner Vision and deep insight.
She carried the blue within her. He carried the red within him. Maybe that’s why before they knew of each other’s presence, something in them was always searching.
Through the portal of vision, they were drawn toward something familiar. Something they couldn’t explain. She was searching for the blue she carried within herself. He was searching for the red.
Slowly, their visions began to find each other.
And when blue met red, neither disappeared. They alchemized. Purple began to appear. And the more they connected, the more violet was created. Not because one became the other, but because their meeting created a gateway neither could reach alone.
Their spirits recognized each other. Their visions began to align.
And at the very center is Qalb (قلب)—the portal of the Heart.
And their hearts began to beat to a frequency they had never felt with anyone else.
At the center, their souls met. Soft pink and light blue. When those energies touched, they created a violet ray that rippled through, revealing deeper and deeper parts of who they always were.
Every ripple created more purple. Every connection revealed another layer. The deeper they found each other, the deeper they found themselves.
It was never about becoming whole. It was about becoming more of who they already were.
Maybe that is what soulmates are. Not two people completing each other, but two souls recognizing something in the other that was already living within themselves.
And when they finally meet, maybe it won’t feel like meeting for the first time.
Maybe it will simply feel like…

For this Algerian wedding dinner, we completely reimagined the Solarium at Preto Loft. Taking advantage of that beautiful, sun-drenched lighting, we transformed the space into an atmosphere that felt completely transported, layering rich traditional elements with modern design.

Instead of standard party favors and traditional layouts, we focused on tactile, immersive moments. We paired a stunning charcuterie setup with a Sunnah table featuring blessed foods from the Quran, and Zam Zam favors to go. Overhead, amina crafted Algerian art and cultural pieces to tell a visual story of Algerian heritage. Finally, an interactive Oud station where guests could blend their own signature scent to take home.

Every single detail was created from working closely with the bride to bring the things she loves most to life: amazing scents, her Algerian 🇩🇿 culture, and food. This is how we approach intimate milestones, turning a blank canvas into a personal, experiential story.

This thesis exhibition brings together contemporary artists from Middle Eastern and North African diasporas, whose practices reflect on intergenerational inheritance, relationships to land, diasporic identity and domesticity. Through a range of mixed-media works, the artists trace how cultural knowledge and memory are carried and transformed across generations and geographies. Attending closely to the ways language manifests in the diaspora, the works negotiate questions of belonging, inheritance and diasporic identity.

A Targi man, a guembri, a weave of patterns and colours. This piece is a dedication to Gnawa music. In North Africa, Gnawa is more than music. It’s a spiritual language full of sacred words and trance-like rhythms for healing, movement, and transcendence. That pulse inspires me in my everyday practice.
