POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Christmas in Chicago was made in Chicago, and Lincoln Square was at the heart of the story.

From the beginning, the Lincoln Square Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce (@lsrcc_chicago) believed in what we were creating. We fell in love with Lincoln Square not only because of its incredible local businesses and community, but because of how beautiful the neighborhood becomes during the Christmas season. It felt like the perfect setting and backdrop for our story.

Throughout our screening run, the Chamber was a true partner. Last year, they brainstormed with us and helped bring our Christmas in Chicago Ornament Hunt to life, giving us another way to connect the film with the community that inspired it. They also helped us bring the movie back to Lincoln Square through our screenings and continued to support the film every step of the way.

Thank you to the Lincoln Square Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce for believing in this film from the start and for helping us share a little more of the magic of Lincoln Square — especially at Christmas. šŸŽ„šŸ™ļø by @3lifetimesmedia

Meet @msjenfreeman, who brought our leading lady, Felicity Jones, to life in ā€œChristmas in Chicagoā€. šŸŽ„

Felicity is at the heart of the story, and Jennifer brought so much warmth and humor to the character.

If you haven’t seen ā€œChristmas in Chicagoā€ yet, now is the perfect time to spend the holidays with Felicity. ā¤ļøšŸŽ¬ by @3lifetimesmedia

Over the past year, Christmas in Chicago had the opportunity to travel far beyondĀ Chicago, with screenings across the country and audiences coming together to celebrate the film.

From Loyola University, CineCity, Welles Park, and Lincoln Park in Chicago to Raleigh, Columbia, South Carolina, Cleveland, Columbus, Dallas, Lexington, Richmond, and Northern Virginia, each screening gave us a chance to bring Christmas in Chicago to a new community.

I attended several screenings and joined audiences for Q&As, sharing more about the making of the film and answering questions about the story and production. At the Loyola screening, Claudia Wallace, who plays Mama K, also joined for a Q&A.

We also had some fun along the way with our Christmas in Chicago Ornament Hunt, giving audiences another way to get involved with the film.

A special thank you to the local businesses and community partners who helped host screenings, including Platform 47, and to everyone who came out to watch, ask questions, participate, and support the film.

Looking back, these screenings became so much more than opportunities to show a movie. They were opportunities to meet audiences, hear their reactions, and watch Christmas in Chicago become part of communities far beyond the set where it started. šŸŽ„šŸŽ¬ taken in Chicago, Illinois by @3lifetimesmedia

Meet @michaelcopon , who plays Alderman Austin Ward, our Christmas in Chicago lead, and is also a producer on the film! On-screen, he is best known for his memorable roles in One Tree Hill, That’s So Raven, Bring It On: In It to Win It, Scorpion King 2, and the Blue Power Ranger in Time Force...oh yea, and he’s also an Emmy Award-winning producer.

Michael and I met at a film market a few years ago, became instant family friends, especially once we discovered that we’re both Filipino. It’s important to me that more Filipino/Asian talent are not only taking on major roles, but also stepping into producing, decision-making, and other creative positions across the entertainment industry.

That’s one of the things that made working with Michael so meaningful. He brought his talent to the screen as Austin, while also helping us execute the film behind the scenes. His family is lovely and I truly wish him all the very best. We started brainstorming some cool stuff to shoot in the Philippines, where he’s recently shot a couple of great projects, including Prisoner of War with Scott Atkins.

I’m proud to have him as part of Christmas in Chicago. Go check out the movie this Christmas season! by @3lifetimesmedia

There’s something special about seeing a place that is part of your own background represented in a major film.

ā€œForgotten Island,ā€ the new DreamWorks animated film, is set in the Philippines and features many Filipino animators and other Filipino creatives among the people bringing the film to life.

As a Filipino, that caught my attention.

The Philippines has such a rich culture, history, landscape, and storytelling tradition, and I’m always interested in seeing how those things are introduced to people who may not have experienced them firsthand.

What makes this especially meaningful is that Filipino creatives are part of the process of bringing this world to the screen. They get to contribute their own perspective while helping introduce audiences around the world to a place they know.

I’m looking forward to seeing the finished film and seeing how the Philippines is brought to life through animation.

There’s something pretty powerful about getting to see your culture become someone else’s introduction to your home. by @3lifetimesmedia

One of the interesting things about post-production and editing is how it can continue to expand your creative instincts even after filming has wrapped.

We started working on rough edits for Chicago Nobodies as soon as filming wrapped.

Our editor rough cuts a scene, sends it over, I’ll give him a bunch of notes, and then we go back in and refine it. Then there are more notes. And more edits.

And then, usually, more notes.

That back-and-forth is a huge part of the process.

When you’re filming, you’re thinking about everything you need to capture to make the scene work. But once you see the footage come together, you start noticing things that couldn't be anticipated on set. A moment might need more room to breathe. Something might need to move faster. A performance might play differently than you expected.

We’re still very much in the rough-cut stage, but that’s exactly what it’s supposed to be right now: trying things, giving notes, making adjustments, and slowly figuring out the strongest version of each scene.

The movie you shoot isn’t always exactly the movie you edit. The creative process continues long after you wrap." by @3lifetimesmedia
