The secret to getting night footage is simple. Many people struggle getting this and nowadays we have cameras that can do it with the simple tap of a button: low light mode.But you want to be a professional and control the exposure and settings manually; this is what makes you different from the rest:📷1. Camera Settings - I typically shoot in 4k at 60fps, double the frame rate with 1/120 shutter speed (golden rule is to double frame rate whenever you set your fps ex. 24fps —> 50fps) 📸2. Exposure: This one will either make or break your footage. In this reel you can see I’m in a well lit area. But let’s say you aren’t. Shoot in 4k 24fps, 1/50 shutter (this will open the camera’s iris to let more light in) ISO must be set 800 or below. Any higher you will get grain in your footage. Sometimes can get away with 1600 ISO. 💡3. White Balance - Set this to 4000k-4500k temperature and lock it in. This will make your image in the blue tons for night. It creates the night effect and creates the image a cinematic experience.🫨4. Stabilize - When you shoot at lower shutter speed, any hand movement with the camera will be seen in the image. To compensate: use a stabilizer or gimbal to keep the camera steady and smooth!🎬5. Post Edit - Color grading is one of the most slept on skills that can make your reels stand out! Use it to your advantage by adding color grading. Set tons near to blue but balance it with orange. It takes a lot of trial and error to master this as one of every footage is different.
