Favorite baby name sign! It was an awesome incorporation of the origin of the name (the Brazos River), and I think it just turned out awesome!

Finally time to reveal this piece. This maybe my most favorite piece I've made to date. This was my first urn, my first box, first time incorporating splines, and my first photo engraving. This is for one of our retired K-9's who has recently passed away. The box is constructed of Walnut and Cherry wood. The badge and photo engraving were accomplished with the @onefinitycnc CNC outfitted with the @jtechphotonics Laser. It is finished with @odiesoil .

It’s that time of year when things get really busy around the shop! I’ve been working on a large order of awards for the AONE conference next month.

Here I’m laying down some Watco Lacquer from @rustoleum on these solid Hard Maple mallets. You can catch a glimpse of the challenge coin inlay pocket carved on the @onefinitycnc CNC, along with the @jtechphotonics laser engraving on the handle. All designed in @askcarveco CAD/ CAM software.

There’s still a lot of work to get done before these are ready, which means I’ll be spending most of the rest of the month out in the blazing-hot Oklahoma shop! 🥵

But I wouldn’t trade it for anything. There’s something pretty cool about seeing a project go from a raw piece of wood to something that will be presented as an award and hopefully cherished for years to come. taken in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma by @405woodcrafting

Over here just prepping stock for the next projects. It may not be the most exciting part of the build, but every great project starts with good prep. It's pretty warm in a non-insulated shop during an Oklahoma July, but that's just part of it.

Final post of the series featuring the incredible cutting board. I present to you the glamor shots of this stunning piece. This amazing board starts off with book-matched end-grain walnut to achieve that gorgeous grain pattern. An epoxy inlay from @totalboat highlights the top, I used their @makerpoxy by @crowcreekdesigns tinted with a combination of pigments from @blackdiamondpigments_com and @mixolusa The juice groove pattern was designed in @askcarveco and carved on the @onefinitycnc The personalized message engraved on the bottom was designed in @lightburnsoftware and engraved with the @jtechphotonics Laser. The glass-smooth surface was achieved with @3m Cubitron abrasives and finished with @walrusoil cutting board oil and wax. To elevate it to the next level, a set of brass feet adorn it. As promised, here's a look behind the scenes at the build process of the incredible book-matched end-grain cutting board I recently shared.
In the video, I walk through several steps of the build and answer some of the questions I get most often about end-grain cutting boards—why they're so unique, why they perform so well, and why they take so much time to create.
Even after making quite a few of these, I'm still blown away by the amazing grain patterns that only end grain can reveal. Every glue-up uncovers something completely unique, and that's one of my favorite parts of the process.

An incredible cutting board commemorating and celebrating the marriage of an incredible couple. The piece incorporates several upgrades from my standard boards.
It starts with book-matched end-grain walnut that creates some absolutely stunning grain patterns. The family name was inlaid with @crowcreekdesigns @makerpoxy from @totalboat . The brilliant white color was achieved with a combination of pigments from @blackdiamondpigments_com and @mixolusa .
The juice groove was designed in @askcarveco CAD/CAM software and carved on my @onefinitycnc CNC. The bottom side features a congratulatory message to the bride and groom that was designed in @lightburnsoftware and engraved with the @jtechphotonics laser mounted on the Onefinity. I also added upgraded brass feet that elevate the board both literally and visually, giving it a refined finish.
The glass-smooth feel was achieved with @3m Cubitron abrasives and the board was finished with @walrusoil l cutting board oil and wax.
This board was built to a standard that I hope allows it to become a family heirloom for generations to come. I'll be sharing some follow-up posts detailing the build process and, of course, a few glamour shots of the finished piece. taken in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma by @405woodcrafting

Trying new designs is one of my favorite parts of making. I teased this Blue Line Flag a few days ago, and I'm really happy with how it came together. The combination of the agency patch and the bold officer name engraving gives it a unique look while still honoring the profession it represents.
This piece was designed in @askcarveco , carved on my @onefinitycnc CNC, and the patch was laser engraved using a @jtechphotonics laser mounted on the CNC. After a few coats of @rustoleum Watco Lacquer, it was ready for its journey to Colorado.
The best part? The recipient absolutely loved it. Seeing a project connect with the person it was made for is what makes all the time in the shop worthwhile. 🇺🇸👮‍♂️ taken in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma by @405woodcrafting

I've been batching out some cutting boards lately, and this layout of cherry, maple, and walnut continues to be one of the most requested designs. I can see why—it has a clean, timeless look with just the right amount of contrast.

These three just left the shop. Two are headed to a family reunion, and the third will be given as a wedding gift. There's something special about knowing a handmade piece will become part of family gatherings, celebrations, and everyday moments for years to come.

This design has definitely earned its popularity. The combination of cherry, maple, and walnut never seems to go out of style.

I recently sent these awards out for a fundraiser supporting local non-profits, and I’m honored to be a small part of such a fantastic event. I love being able to use my skills and tools to give back to the local community.

These awards were designed in @askcarveco CAD/CAM software and carved on the @onefinitycnc CNC from solid Cherry wood. I finished them with Watco Lacquer from @rustoleum to really bring out the natural beauty of the grain.
