Junglista are you reeeady? Ray Keith, The man behind Dread Recordings returns to Pittsburgh on Wednesday July 8th at SideQuest on 44th !

"Ray Keith is one of the UK’s most respected names in jungle and drum and bass, regarded as the Godfather of D&B. Renowned for his bass-heavy yet soulful productions and seamless skills, this iconic DJ, producer and record label head has remained at the pinnacle of the scene since helping to pioneer the genre nearly two decades ago.

With eight studio albums, a catalogue of hugely important remixes, a successful radio show and countless worldwide tours under his belt, Ray shows no signs of slowing down. His label Dread Recordings celebrates 31 years in the game this year.

Ray burst onto the scene in the early 90s as a DJ on the UK rave circuit. When his remix of Orbital’s ‘Chime’ dropped in 1992 he was immediately propelled into the limelight as one of the UK’s most celebrated producers.
With an abundance of remixes hitting the streets throughout jungle's mid-90s golden era, Ray soon became known as the don of the rerub, with well over 100 jungle and drum and bass remixes released - including reworkings of Moby's 'Yes Yes', Congo Natty's 'Police in Helicopter’ and Baby D's 'Let Me Be Your Fantasy' to name but a few.
Ray's weekly radio show on Radar Radio, Blueprint, currently reaches audiences of around 25k – 30k a week, with guests having included the likes of Roni Size, Heartless Crew and Dizzee Rascal.
He also releases a monthly Dread radio podcast of upfront cutting edge jungle and drum and bass, and runs a regular Blueprint night in London. "

As SubSanctuary enters it's 10th year in existence, the gang and I wanted to start things off with our finest funktioning foot forward. We've heard heaps of diverse music in our day and discover new artists by the hour yet only a select few sonic creators make their way into our heavily-selected rotations. The second we uncovered Know Matter playing a 100% production set at a hoppin' festival down in Austin, TX we knew it was simply a matter of time until we'd wrangle him to our Northern front. That moment is finally upon us and you're all invited to soak in the sounds of a truly multi-dimensional variant of bass maestro. No genres are safe, especially ones with drums and bass and you can be sure you'll exit the dust bowl with a charge in your heart you didn't enter with. He hosts his own legendary events in Austin's flourishing music scene under the name, Create Culture, manages his own lively underground warehouse event space and has somehow found the time to bless our humble airwaves with his psychedelic-tinged madness.

He'll be flanked by the tenured and titillating sounds of our in-house sonic chiropractor - Johnny Quest as well as DC's own, Leonic - on a regional rampage of his own - both primed to lead us on a gravitating journey of halftime/dub/dnb + a bit of UKG if we're lucky 😉
