Last week I harvested a huge amount of blueberries in my backyard. They went into one of my fermentation vessels with red grapes, minced apple for crunch, two peaches, and for spice, a lot of chopped garlic and ginger, the kind of Korean red chili that’s used for Kimchi, and Vera salt because it’s guaranteed to be micro plastic free. It fermented for about 30 hours. I love it with a bowl of. Dairy kefer! It makes the perfect summer lunch! by @415.gail

Meet my new friend TaterTot a 75 pound capybara who was at Pignic today, a guinea pig festival in Cupertino. If you look closely, you’ll see the red lipstick prints I planted on her pretty face! I also gave her lots of tickles under the chin. Guinea pigs and capybaras are closely related, capybara‘s are the largest rodents in the world. Tater tots fur is bristly like a pig’s (the kind that oinks). They also make an adorable little squeaky sound. Although he was very nice, I did not kiss her handler! Pignic was a benefit for Gardners Pig Pen, which is where my guinea pigs came from. #gardnerspigpen #runningoutofhay #pignic #guineapigsofinsta #guineapigoftheday #capybaras #capybarasofinstagram #cupertino by @415.gail

September 20 I will be one of the speakers at a symposium of my dearest friend, Ralph Metzner. It will be an afternoon of reflections on the life and work of this pioneering, visionary, psychologist, writer, and psychedelics researcher who we lost in 2018. The speakers will include many pioneers in the psychedelic community, such as Gary Bravo, Charles Grob, Jamy Faust, Michael Ziegler, Grammy award winning musician Silvia Nakkach, Valeria McCarroll, Ralph’s wife, Cathy, Coleman, and so many more. If you want to be there in person, it will be held at the Alembic in Berkeley. It will also be live streamed and broadcasted around the world. You can get tickets on City Lights books website. This photo is of me and Ralph take near his home in Sonoma. I miss him every day. I hope to see you Saturday the 20th in Berkeley! www.citylights.com/events #psychedelic #ralphmetzner, #thealembic #citylightsbookstore #CIIS by @415.gail

What looks like a jar of murky nothing will be a medical and yummy blueberry oxymell. Our ancestors made these with various herbs and fruit. Crush the fruit or herbs and add 50/50 apple cider vinegar and raw honey. Shake the far everyday and a month later it’s ready to strain . Take spoonfuls, pour over food, add to bubbly water. I added blueberry leaves to increase the medicine! #blueberries #oxymell #herbalmeducine #plantmedicine by @415.gail

This is the best way to enjoy Summer Solstice weekend! This is a tincture California poppy flowers, leaves and stems which have been infusing in 100 proof vodka for almost 8 weeks. I will strain it, and bottle it in 2 ounce glass amber Boston grounds, with droppers. Calm nerves, and sleep are two of its gifts. It will be a nice addition to evening Kava mocktails! #californiapoppies #tincture #bigpharmarebellion #herbs #kava #mocktails by @415.gail

Making corn stock with fresh bi-color corn, the husks, carrots and celery. I’ll freeze it in mason jars. It’s perfect for risotto. My next batch will have chicken bones and feet. The corn silk is in a jar with 100percent vodka for a medicinal tincture. #summer #corn cornsilktincture #herbalmedicine #cornstock #risotto #soup by @415.gail

More magic from my backyard. This is Yerba Buena, which used to grow absolutely everywhere around the Bay Area and grow feral in my backyard. When San Francisco was the home of the Ohlone it was used medicinally. Yerba Buena translates good herb and it was the original name of San Francisco. It makes a delightful tea, which will soothe the nerves which goodness knows we need now more than ever! #sanfrancisco #ohlone #goodherb #yerbabuena #tea #herbs #backyardherbs #californianatives by @415.gail

My friend Kati Koos has been after me to make a Dutch baby. At long last here is my first #dutchbaby. I used #cup4cup gluten free flour, maple syrup instead of sugar, duck eggs, a pinch of mace, and extra vanilla. #dessert #lunch #lowoxalate #organic @katikoosmodesto by @415.gail
