Really hard to put into words what this weekend meant to me… but I’m going to give it a try!2 years ago, I had the privilege of attending GRiZ’s super intimate Ursa Major festival as a fan. Surrounded by maybe 2,000 people, feeling something so pure and special that stuck with me ever since. This past weekend, I had the opportunity to capture GRiZ at his very first major festival & feel all of the growth that has commenced in 2 years within us both. The energy, the love, the homies, the healing. every second felt like a full circle moment… i’ll never forget the feeling of being there, surrounded by so much love & light, overflowing with gratitude.Thank you @griz for being such an inspiration in so many ways. For creating spaces that remind us what love, connection, and community feel like. This experience changed me through and through. So much more to come. SHOW LOVE, SPREAD LOVE! 🥹💖🌠🌈✨🫶🏼#griz #sevenstars #sevenstarsfestival #grizfam #edm #edmphotography #edmphotographer #festivalphotographer #festivalphotography by @444ems.lens

I’ve had so many friends reach out lately asking how to get started in photography. I’ll always be someone who wants to see others succeed, and I love encouraging people to pursue anything that inspires them creatively! Here’s some of the best advice I can give from what I’ve learned so far (as someone who’s still on the newer side myself and learning every day, but has always loved photography and only recently started pursuing it as a career)1. You don’t need the newest, fanciest gear. All of my gear is secondhand, and my current camera body is a 10 year old used DSLR. eBay & b&h are great resources for buying second hand gear, just be sure to read reviews. Remember, It’s not the wand, it’s the wizard! 🧙🏻‍♀️2. Practice everything, everywhere. I promised myself that if I invested in pro equipment, I would never take my camera off manual. To this day, my camera has never come out of manual mode and I truly believe it’s the best way to learn all of its functions to the fullest (firm believer in throwing yourself into the deep end lol)3. Put yourself out there. Send the emails, send the DMs. It’s normal that most people won’t ever respond or will politely decline, but all it takes is one yes to get your foot in the door. 4. Know your value. Don’t forget your time and energy, both shooting and editing, are worth something.5. Editing takes patience. Developing your personal style is trial and error. If you’re a perfectionist like me, try to let go a little and enjoy the process. (And take breaks… I’m guilty of 12-hour editing sprees, don’t be like me 😂)6. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Take risks, mess up, and learn from it, that’s how you’ll grow the most7. YouTube/Instagram are your best friends. There are endless tutorials to help with both shooting and editing techniques.8. Most importantly: Have fun! Photography is art, and art should feel exciting, not stressful (even though at times it can be overwhelming) remember why you’re doing it and enjoy the process! My dms are always open to anyone looking for advice. Always more than happy to help in anyway I can ❤️ by @444ems.lens

All of Electric Forest was evacuated right before @marydroppinz set for emergency weather... after hours of uncertainty over whether the festival would continue at all, we finally got the call it was back on. Then @marydroppinz proceeded to throw down one of the hardest sets of the weekend 🌲⚡️💖 #electricforest #marydroppinz #edm #festivalphotography #edmphotography by @444ems.lens

Some of my favorite photos from my first (but definitely not last) @electric_forest 🌲✨💖No matter how many pictures I take, it is impossible to capture everything that makes this place so special. I know I can get a bit repetitive, but I will never stop expressing my gratitude on here. Huge thank you to every artist, team, & friend who trusted me to capture such a special weekend 🤍 by @444ems.lens

I’ve realized that my Instagram has slowly become more of a portfolio than a personal page. As grateful as I am for that, this past weekend at Electric Forest reminded me of the version of myself that existed before I ever picked up a camera professionally.Although I was there working, I made a conscious effort to set aside time to simply enjoy the festival. To be present, dance with my friends, and remember what made me fall in love with this community in the first place. Before I ever worked in this scene, I used to make little recap videos after festivals because I never wanted to forget how those weekends felt, & this in a way feels like a return to that. It isn’t about the work I created, but instead about what I got to experience. Putting it together reminded me of how far I’ve come, and how surreal it is that something that started from simply loving this community has now become my career.I still do have a lot of work from this weekend that I’m excited to share too, but until then this felt like the right place to start 🌲✨🫶🏼Spoken word by: @griz Video concept inspired by: @mixedmedia @somatic.cinema @buttercreations_ Shot on: Fujifilm X100VI by @444ems.lens

This trip reminded me how important it is to slow down and appreciate the people we love and the world around us. Spend time outside. Reach out to people you care about. Tell them how much you love them, and don’t let them forget it. Take care of yourself, be present, and cherish the people, places, and moments that make life meaningful. I have a lot of work from the past few weeks that I’m excited to share also, but these felt worthy of a moment before all of that. That being said, here are some of my favorite frames from a road trip from California to Washington, captured almost entirely on the Fujifilm X100VI. by @444ems.lens
