POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Hi, it’s Maco from 4RUDE. It’s been a month since our last performance . How have you all been?

After SEHPURPUR, Hikaru and I suddenly had to fly back to Japan, then came back to Germany and ran the Berlin Marathon just three days later… and now we’ve finally finished clearing everything up after the production. (Still some paperwork left, though 😅)

All the equipment and production materials that had been sitting in our room for the past year are finally gone. I’m happy to have the space back, but I have to admit, it feels a little strange and a bit sad, too.

Anyway, I’m planning to take things slowly for a while longer, but I finally got myself together and decided it was time to work on the website. I’ve just finished putting together the SEHPURPUR pages (phew… that was hard 😆), so here’s a little update!

I have created two separate SEHPURPUR pages: One has performance photos and the other has documentary photos.
Most of the performance photos are from the Premiere, taken by Andi @salmiaksalz , with some dress rehearsal shots mixed in as well.
There are links on both pages, so you can easily go back and forth between them.

There are SO many more photos I’d love to show you, but I had to make a selection. 🤔

Come visit us at the 4RUDE website:
https://4rude.com

You can also find the photo pages through the link in our bio.

And the music in this reel is from the performance itself, composed by Tara @taaarrrii . Pretty cool, isn’t it?

Oh, and the video of the performance will be released later, too. Stay tuned for more info!

And now, I’ve started working on Butoh Notation Lab 2026. In November, I’ll have a few people joining me to challenge and experiment with the Butoh-fu.

We might do one or two classes before the end of the year as well — Hikaru and I are still talking about it.
Workshops will be next year.

If you’re interested, keep an eye on the 4RUDE website and Instagram!

That’s all for now. See you soon — or, as we say in Japan…

It has been almost a week since the two performances of SEHPURPUR came to an end.

When we began our 20th Anniversary Project last October, the end still seemed far away. There were moments when we wondered whether we would truly make it through this long journey, and whether we would be able to bring everything we had planned into being.

And now, we have arrived here.

We are deeply grateful to all the dancers who shared this journey with us, to the staff and collaborators who supported us along the way, and to everyone who came and entered the world of our work with us.

Our special thanks go to everyone at Studio2 and Sammlung Scharf-Gerstenberg, who gave us the opportunity to make this project happen.

SEHPURPUR was our first open-air performance. With a small team and a limited budget, we gave everything we had to the work. We are proud that, together, we were able to create something that reached beyond what we had imagined at the beginning.

A journey has come to an end, but perhaps an ending is also a place from which something else begins.

We do not yet know when we will meet again. But we carry this experience with us as we step into the 21st year of 4RUDE — into a new terrain, and toward whatever is waiting there.

Thank you for being with us.
We hope you will continue to walk with 4RUDE.

Photos from SEHPURPUR will follow soon.
Please wait a little longer.

✨Generalprobe.

The forecast said rain right up until our performance time.
We don’t mind performing in the rain, so we all got ready, ready to enjoy it.

And just as we started, the rain finally stopped.
I’m sure the photo and video team got some great shots!

Tomorrow is the premiere.
See you there!☀️

🤯A long day, from 13:00 to 24:00.
It ended with a cue-to-cue session in the rain.
That was fun too!

Tomorrow: Generalprobe.

❤️‍🔥We’ve started setting up at the Sammlung Scharf-Gerstenberg.

Today, we finished setting up the scenery, sound and some of the lighting. There’s still a mountain of work to do, but we’re enjoying the process.💪
