When Sgt. Malik Mann hung up his active-duty hat in September 2019, it wasn’t a goodbye, but a shift—thanks to the Direct Affiliation Program (DAP).

Under the DAP, Marines can move directly from active duty to reserve status without a service interruption. This program lets Marines continue their service while offering more flexibility to chase personal and professional aspirations.

“I would say the best part about [the DAP] was that it was simple and easy,” Sgt. Mann said. “It allowed me to continue my service from active to reserve and start my civilian life.”

Marines transitioning to the Marine Corps Reserve via the DAP can qualify for a signing bonus up to $25,000, preferred duty station selection, and six months of free TRICARE Prime.

This past weekend C Co, 4th LAR Battalion welcomed the 4th Marine Division Commanding General. The visit consisted of command brief, site tour, OCTC visit, and Company PT. Cobra Company Marines also built on deployment readiness by the execution of LAV maintenance actions in preparation of Aprils Gunnery and AGTS prerequisites for Crewmen.

“Marines are built through the ethos of struggle and sacrifice” - General James Jones

Individual readiness is the cornerstone of mission success. The Annual Training exercise conducted at Fort Irwin this July could not have been achieved without the dedication, discipline, and sacrifices of every Marine in 4th LAR.

Every Marine’s dedication to personal training ensures we’re always prepared to answer the call—stronger, faster, and more resilient. We don’t rise to the occasion, we train for it. Semper Fi! 🇺🇸 by @4thlarbn

Friday, June 21, 2024 marked the Inspector-Instructor Change of Command Ceremony for 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion.

The Marines and Sailors of 4th LAR want to express our gratitude to LtCol Esposito for his dedicated leadership and welcome LtCol Kozick to the Ironhorse family.

The change of command ceremony symbolizes the transfer of responsibility for the morale, discipline, and proficiency of the entire command from one individual to another. The passing of the colors, the tangible symbol of the unit, physically represents this transfer. The ceremony further emphasizes continuity of leadership and unit identity despite a change in individual authority. taken in 4th LAR BN, Camp Pendleton, CA by @4thlarbn
