WHAT IS THE LONG-TERM PLAN?

We’ve spent this series asking candidates about public access, road deactivation, local consultation and what happens before access is permanently lost.

Now comes the bigger question:

What is your long-term plan for public access to British Columbia’s backcountry?

Resource roads across B.C. provide access to places people camp, hunt, fish, hike, snowmobile, four-wheel drive and explore.

But when those roads are no longer needed for industrial use, British Columbians deserve to know what the long-term plan is.

Should high-value recreation routes be identified?

Should alternatives to permanent deactivation be considered?

Who should be responsible for maintenance, safety and long-term access?

And what role should local communities and recreation organizations have in those decisions?

This election, ask the candidates running to represent you.

YOUR LOCAL ACCESS MATTERS

This isn’t just about Rady Creek.

Across British Columbia, communities depend on backcountry roads and access routes to reach the places they camp, hunt, fish, explore and recreate.

So this election, ask the candidates running to represent you:

What will you do to protect reasonable backcountry access in the communities you represent?

We’ve made it easy.

BEFORE ACCESS IS PERMANENTLY LOST

When a backcountry road is being considered for permanent deactivation, what should happen before that decision becomes irreversible?

Should alternatives be explored?
Should recreation groups and local communities have a chance to participate?

Should the public-access value of that route be considered alongside safety, environmental, financial and other land-management concerns?

This election, ask the candidates running to represent you where they stand.

WHEN FORESTRY LEAVES, WHAT HAPPENS TO THE ROAD?

Across B.C., resource roads can keep serving communities and recreation users long after industrial activity has ended.

So this election, ask your candidates:

What should happen when a resource road is no longer needed by industry, but still has significant recreational or public-access value?

We’ve made it easy to ask.

THIS ELECTION, ASK THE QUESTION.

Where do your candidates stand on public access to public lands?

Across B.C., backcountry roads provide access to places people camp, hunt, fish, explore and recreate.

Rady Creek helped put this conversation in the spotlight, but this issue is much bigger than one road.

So we’ve made it easy to ask the people running to represent you where they stand.

If you send the email, come back and leave a “SENT” in the comments so we can see how many British Columbians are asking the question.

SEPTEMBER 24 IS TOMORROW

At 1:00 p.m. Pacific, bidding closes on the Ministry of Forests’ contract to deactivate Rady Creek.

After that, the Ministry can evaluate the bids and move toward awarding the work.

Before that happens, we need every ministry with a stake in this decision to hear from British Columbians, together.

Rady Creek is not only a forestry issue.

It affects tourism, environmental stewardship, rural communities, outdoor recreation, jobs and economic growth, and mineral access.

We have made taking action simple.

Click the link below. One email will open addressed to all six ministries, with a respectful message already prepared.

Add your name and community, then press send.

📧 EMAIL ALL SIX MINISTRIES:

Ask them to come to the table with Amber Lane, Executive Director of the BC Snowmobile Federation, and Colin T. Stuart, Vancouver Island Representative of the Four Wheel Drive Association of BC, before a contract is awarded and irreversible work begins.

We are ready to talk.
We are ready to find solutions.
Now we need government to show up.
SIX MINISTRIES. ONE TABLE.

Let’s make our voices impossible to ignore.

WHY WILL THE MINISTRY PROVIDE 24/7 SECURITY, BUT NOT MEET WITH THE PUBLIC?

For months, community members and organizations fighting for Rady Creek have asked the Ministry of Forests for a meeting.

We have asked for transparency, access to the evidence and a fair conversation about responsible alternatives to permanent deactivation.

The Ministry has not agreed to meet with us.
Yet its official contract bid states:

“The Ministry of Forests will provide 24/7 onsite security services for the entire duration of deactivation operations.”

The timeline is moving quickly:
📅 Bid closes: September 24, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. Pacific
🚧 Contract completion deadline: November 1, 2026, or before snowfall reaches 10 cm

The tender also includes a one-year renewal option if unforeseen circumstances delay the work.

We are not calling for confrontation, and we are not asking anyone to interfere with workers. We are asking for transparency, dialogue and public accountability before irreversible work begins.

Help us bring this story into the open.

Email CTV, CBC and Global News. Send them this reel and the official BC Bid posting, and ask them to investigate:

Why is the Ministry willing to provide round-the-clock security, but unwilling to meet with the public?

RADY CREEK MAY NOT BE IN YOUR RIDING, BUT YOUR VOICE STILL MATTERS.

One of the questions we've heard throughout the Rady Creek campaign is:

“Why should I contact my MLA if Rady Creek isn't in my riding?”

Because your MLA represents you.

Many of us travel far outside our own communities to camp, hike, hunt, fish, snowmobile, four-wheel-drive and explore.

The places we care about don't stop at the boundaries of our electoral districts.

If you're concerned about what's happening at Rady Creek, we're asking you to take a few minutes and contact your own MLA.

You don't need to send a long form letter.

Simply let them know:

• You're one of their constituents.
• Backcountry access in British Columbia matters to you.
• You're concerned about the planned deactivation of Rady Creek FSR.
• You would like them to learn more about the issue and raise your concerns with Minister of Forests Ravi Parmar.

Most importantly, make it personal.

Tell them how you use BC's backcountry and why maintaining responsible recreational access matters to you.

This isn't about expecting every MLA in British Columbia to solve Rady Creek.

It's about making sure our elected representatives understand that decisions affecting backcountry access are being watched by people across the province.

We may live in different ridings.

But we recreate across the same British Columbia.

Find your MLA through the Legislative Assembly of BC's official MLA directory, link below.

You can also CC the Minister of Forests:

Please keep your message respectful, personal and focused.

If Rady Creek matters to you, let your representative know. by @4wdabc
