Apparently there is a negroni week and apparently it’s now. Not that we need an excuse, a classic negroni is always on our menu and in our 100% completely biased opinion, balanced to perfection 🤌

However, we also never need an excuse for a celebration so here’s one with an actual cherry on top 🍒

Boulevardier; bourbon replacing the gin for a warming twist on the classic negroni as we straddle the seasons 🍂

So called after the self titled ‘Boulevardiers’ a group of marauding Americans including Hemingway who would bar crawl the Grand Boulevards of Paris in the 20’s from the infamous Harry’s bar…..one of two of these are guaranteed to put a swagger in your step 🍊

Excited to welcome @robin_ek ek back, this time with @baaad_handwriting to get up some aural mischief and take us all into uncharted musical waters 🌀

Couple of new wines listed, pairing nicely with this weeks English cheese selection & charcuterie bar snacks

Looking for new human beans to join the 56 family, predominantly bar based role so some hospitality/drinks experience is useful but as always in a tiny team everyone gets stuck into everything so most important is a warm, friendly welcoming soul, with a genuine interest in people and we can teach the rest!

We want everyone to feel at home whichever side of the bar your on

Weekend night time shifts, so ideally suited to someone locally based and over 18 for serving drinks 🍸

Wetting whistles all weekend…..sadly due to a last minute cancellation we are open BOTH Friday & Saturday this weekend.

We’ll be opening up some of our favourite bottles to share with you…..an Umbrian pet nat, all golden clouds of stone fruit & fresh bread, a cheeky Italian fizzy chilled red and in case autumn does come calling an exciting biodynamic Rioja from the Basque Country we’ve been itching to crack open.

Pair a glass with an English cheese, on the board this week a nettle wrapped Cornish Yarg, Yorkshire Pecorino Fresca and a Wooky Hole Cheddar 🧀
