Today, my stepson would have been 25.

When you lose someone you love, life has three chapters: life with them, life when you first lose them, and life learning how to keep going without them.

And somehow, they never really leave. A song, a movie, a joke, a place, and suddenly, they’re right there with you again.

So today, call your people. Text them. Tell them you love them. Hug them a little tighter. Don’t take one precious moment for granted, because you never know when “I love you” will be the last thing you get to say.

Happy 25th Birthday, Young King EJ. Forever my son. Forever in my heart. 🕊️❤️

21 YEARS. ONE JOURNEY. ONE FINAL SALUTE. 🇺🇸🦅

On September 11, 2026, I officially retired from the United States Marine Corps after 21 years and 4 months of honorable service.

From the yellow footprints…
To Iraq.
To Korea and Japan.
To Germany.
To Parris Island.
To the countless Marines, leaders, mentors, friends, and family who became part of my story…

Every chapter brought a lesson.
Every challenge built resilience.
Every Marine I served with left a mark.

And then came the moment…

“My watch is relieved.
My watch is yours.
Semper Fidelis.”

🎖️ THE WATCH IS RELIEVED.

But this isn’t the end.

It’s the beginning of another mission—one without a uniform, but with the same purpose, discipline, faith, and hunger to keep growing.

To everyone who stood beside me throughout this journey: THANK YOU. You helped make this life possible.

And to the Marines still standing the watch:

I pass the torch to you. Protect it. Strengthen it. Carry it forward.

The ceremony was unforgettable.

Today, I’m not just celebrating another birthday. I’m celebrating 39 years of life, lessons, battles, blessings, growth, and becoming the man God called me to be.

At 39, I’ve learned that discipline beats motivation, faith beats fear, and consistency changes everything.

I’ve fought battles nobody saw.
I’ve survived seasons that tried to break me.
I’ve made mistakes, learned lessons, and kept moving forward.

And I’m still hungry.
Still training.
Still learning.
Still building.
Still dreaming.
Still becoming.

The mission isn’t over. It’s just entering another level. 🦁

July 12, 2005. I was 17 years old.

I stepped onto the yellow footprints with nothing but a dream, a willingness to serve, and a commitment to become a United States Marine.

I had no idea what the next 21 years would hold.

Since that day, I’ve served around the world, led Marines through challenges and victories, experienced sacrifice and loss, built lifelong friendships, and grown from a 17 year old recruit into a Master Sergeant entrusted with leading America’s finest.

The Marine Corps didn’t just give me a career, it forged my character.

Every deployment.
Every promotion.
Every setback.
Every lesson.
Every Marine I had the privilege to lead.

They all became part of who I am.

Today, July 12, 2026, I celebrate 21 years of active duty service.

As I prepare to retire later this year, I look back with immense gratitude. The uniform may come off, but the values it instilled in me will remain for the rest of my life.

To every Marine I’ve served beside, thank you.

To my family, thank you for carrying this journey with me.

And to that 17-year-old kid standing on the yellow footprints…

You made the right decision.
