Join the 67 Blankets Mulbarton KnitWits® for a laid-back afternoon of knitting, nattering and chatting.

We’ll be handing over 2,400 beautiful squares to Queenshaven Retirement Home. Their challenge is to turn the squares into as many blankets as possible over the next three months.

Come along and show your support. We’d love to see you there! 🧶

One of the proudest achievements of my life was signing a partnership agreement on behalf of 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day and the Department of Correctional Services. That meant that I got to spend a lot of time in jails all across South Africa. Always at my side was today’s birthday girls Laetitia Redman. Dynamite does come in small packages. When Laetitia walks into a prison the residents take note. They greet respectfully and are always delighted and honoured by her presence. Together we have achieved the seemingly impossible. Four Guinness World Records with the help of our ambassadors for 67 Blankets and KnitWits in South Africa and internationally as well as thousands of people living behind bars. Inmates (including men in maximum security centres) across our land have made thousands of blankets for people on the outside whose lives have been affected by crime and poverty. Laetitia and I have travelled the country together, plotted and planned some of our extraordinary achievements, she makes everything tick! And today she celebrates her birthday. Happy birthday my powerful, fearless and fabulous friend Laetitia. Thank you for profoundly changing my life and bringing so much meaning into my world. I send you so much love.

Can you spot your blanket?

A huge thank you to Firdoze Bulbulia for taking the donated blankets all the way over to Cairo!

These blankets have now been donated to the Children’s Cancer Hospital and a Burns Hospital, where they will hopefully bring a little warmth and comfort to children who need it most.

Thank you to everyone who donated a blanket and helped make this possible.

Call for Fourways community to knit.

Lynton Lefevre is calling on Fourways residents to pick up their knitting needles and crochet hooks and join a new community group aimed at making a difference to people in need.

Lefevre, who has been involved with 67 Blankets for Mandela Day for 13 years and is a resident of Mulbarton Manor, launched the new Circle of Friends group at the retirement village, bringing together people from Fourways, Sunninghill, Bromhof and surrounding areas.

Thank you to the Fourways Review for your AMAZING blanket coverage.

THIS IS WHAT COMMUNITY LOOKS LIKE!

A wool-ful thank you to everyone at Wits Donald Gordon Medical Centre for this wonderful donation of wool to the talented young KnitWits at Parktown High School for Girls.

Special thanks to Mrs Lydia Khulu Zondo and our 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day Ambassador, Amahle Zondo, for helping make this possible.

Every ball of wool has the potential to become something warm, handmade with love and destined for someone in need. We cannot wait to see what these willing hands create!

One stitch at a time, we continue spreading warmth.
