🥋 IT’S TIME TO EQUIP OURSELVES 🥋

SAWA will be hosting a FREE Self-Defence Class for Women 💜

We believe safety is a right and we also believe in equipping ourselves with the knowledge, skills and confidence to better protect ourselves and the women around us.

Join us for a practical 3 hour session covering self-defence fundamentals, situational awareness, practical techniques and what to do before, during and after an attack.

The class is FREE but REGISTRATION IS MANDATORY. Only registered participants will be permitted entry. No walk-ins.

Navigating an unsafe world as a creative woman means processing the ether while trying to protect your peace. My work as an artist and leader requires me to be out at night, in transit, and fully present, but fear blocks creativity. I hate the feeling and yet at least I’m alive right ? But it’s hard to live like this, it’s not okay and so I’ve been thinking about how as cultural leaders we can change things a more proactive approach, an approach that responds to reality… and so we can ponder however we are the people in charge so we won’t just talk about we will DO

Nestled into this festival was an experience that cannot be measured in words or pictures. Here are just a few moments from the nighttime segment of the Inner City Wellness Fest, brought to life by a creative hub dedicated to making a real impact in the world.
@namsthehuman has been working tirelessly to build spaces and places that hold creative expression safely and sacredly 💜

We want to extend a massive thank you to every face, every soul, and every person who made the First Listen experience so incredibly special. The energy was filled with pure warmth, and we are eternally grateful to everyone who showed up, danced, and kept Namakau’s secret album listening session protected💫

A very special thank you to our performers @dnemas_ , @ms.erikanotbadoo, our host @ashleighkuetche —as well as the beautiful @sa.wellness.association team for making this vision come alive. 🌿 A FULL-CIRCLE MOMENT FOR SAWA 🌿

What started as a shared vision became something truly special. ❤️

The Southern African Wellness Association (SAWA) was created to bring wellness closer to our communities, creating spaces where we can come together to move, learn, nourish, heal, connect and discover the incredible wellness practitioners, entrepreneurs and brands within our community.

Last weekend, that vision came to life at our Inner City Wellness Festival. ✨

From yoga, meditation and wellness coaching to skincare, self-care, nutrition, meaningful conversations and beautiful moments of connection, we are incredibly proud of what we created together.

To every facilitator, wellness practitioner, partner and sponsor who believed in our vision and contributed their time, products, expertise and resources: THANK YOU. 🤍

And most importantly, THANK YOU to every single person who bought a ticket, walked through our doors, participated, supported our businesses and shared this experience with us. You made this festival possible.

And now we get to share a little piece of that journey with the rest of South Africa! 🇿🇦📺
