After eight years of running 7TILL8, we’ve decided to close our doors. We started with the curiosity to see if we could solve a well-known problem within the ocean community: wetsuit fit. We also wondered if we could create a brand that gave people a sense of pride and confidence to explore their relationship with the water. We named it after our favorite time to surf, a summertime sunset session in Malibu. Building 7TILL8 was the privilege of a lifetime. We created custom wetsuits made from Yamamoto #40 and fit thousands of people across 37 countries. It took us to the dreamiest breaks around the world. We met the most magnetic people and experienced awe-inspiring sessions. Professional surfers, freedivers, CEOs, shapers, artists… so many people that we otherwise would not have crossed paths with if not for a shared love for the water. We started 7TILL8 simply because we wanted to see what was possible. We didn’t fully anticipate the growing pains of supply chain disruptions, market forces, and capital pressures. Any founder will understand how a business you love can fuel, expand, and consume you all at once. We didn’t know what we didn’t know. We want to thank everyone who has crossed paths with us and supported 7TILL8. It gave us the opportunity to transform our lives and we couldn’t be more grateful. The water’s warming up, the days are getting longer, and with PCH finally back open, we're itching to get back out and explore the coast. We’ll be headed South this weekend, to Venice (Saturday 6/7) and Malibu (Sunday 6/8), to participate in two surf community events: 📍EMOCEAN ISSUE 08 RELEASE PARTY | @ SABA SURF | VENICE | Saturday 6/7 Join us at Saba Surf to celebrate the release of Emocean Issue 08—The Infinite, a 232-page dive into the surf community. Expect an evening of magazines, merch, a few drinks with Madre Mezcal, a custom wetsuit fitting with 7TILL8, and a live performance by Jake Dupre. 📍WADE IN THE WATER OUTDOOR FILM SCREENING | @ ADAMSON HOUSE | MALIBU | Sunday 6/8 Join us for an evening celebrating the legacy of Nick Gabaldón, the first documented Black surfer. The event features a panel discussion moderated by filmmaker David Mesfin, followed by an outdoor screening of Wade in the Water: A Journey into Black Surfing and Aquatic Culture. On Saturday, May 3, we brought the “sea-to-table” experience to life in Ventura. Indoek hosted a one-day takeover with Rivian, 7TILL8, and Rosalynn Supper Club. For 7TILL8, diving is about connection—to nature, to adventure, and to craft—and this event was our way of sharing that feeling in real life. The journey began with a dive off the Channel Islands and ended with a shared table inside the gallery. The catch: fresh urchin and California sheephead, harvested the day before by @conner_john_rhoads and @brookebasse Then @jasperhlynn and @rosalynnsupperclub transformed the catch into a fine dining tasting menu cooked on the @rivianofficial Travel Kitchen in front of @indoek gallery. Outside, test drives in Rivian vehicles gave a hands-on taste of outdoor exploration. While inside, guests were custom-measured for @7till8 wetsuits and welcomed the brand’s Ventura debut.  Indoek’s “Wavelengths” show by @nedevans and @jivesurf anchored the experience in contemporary California art inspired by the artists’ relationships to the sea. Sips by @stelandmar, @topatopabrewingco, and @optimistdrinks kept spirits high through the evening. We're Headed Somewhere That Feels Like Home We’ve called Los Angeles home since Day 1 of 7TILL8, but over the years, our commitment to evolving our custom wetsuits has taken us personally all over the California coast—and ultimately, to our next destination. Our products carry the knowledge of our lived experiences. During the pandemic, finding all-day solace in double (sometimes triple) surf sessions at San Onofre led to the development of our Two-Piece Wetsuit. To better understand the demands of cold-water surfing and dial in the Hooded Fullsuit, we spent three years living at the beach in Aptos—immersed in the raw energy of Santa Cruz and the tucked-away coastlines north of Highway 1. The frequent exploration between Northern and Southern California inspired the Convertible Hooded Fullsuit—built to adapt to shifting winds and water temps. An unexpected takeaway from our time in Aptos was the access to phenomenal produce, seafood, and a deeper awareness of where our food comes from. It sparked a new kind of curiosity—about diving, harvesting, and what it means to be underwater for long stretches of time. As our dive collection evolved, we found ourselves naturally drawn to Ventura County: the Channel Islands, the creative undercurrent, and a core multi-disciplined waterman community that is asking for gear built with intention. Expanding the boundaries of custom wetsuits and diving led us to a realization: Ventura County was where we were headed. This transition is just beginning, but already, Ventura already feels like home.
