White Tape hunting continues ⚪️

When @lasse_von_freier set this few weeks ago he asked me to test this boulder. After a few tries I locked in and managed to do the first move as intended and continued til the middle part. While it was very hard I was certain I’ll send it. But after few weeks of not getting to my earlier high point I thought it wouldn’t be possible for me. After already kind of giving up I tried it again at the end of a session and after a few adjustments I managed to do the 2nd crux and in isolation the top as well. There was just one move left to do. The hope came back. But then I kept on trying the last crux (third last move) and kept on failing. Then I saw @senor_gunther doing that move, so I knew I really give it my all and then I finally did it

Thanks for this banger, Lasse! I really enjoyed to puzzle this together the past weeks.

4 wonderful days in Fontainebleau have ended. It was kind of a rollercoaster of emotions in the Forest of France. On the first day, I sent a 7a pretty quickly in 3 attempts. It gave me a boost of confidence, but on the other hand, because I sent it fairly quickly, I wasn’t super excited as I didn’t really struggle on that boulder. And for me, the more I struggle on a boulder, the better it feels once I’ve finally sent it.

On Day 2, I tried Périphérique, a block with a hard sit start and a bunch of slopers. Although it was mentioned that it had a lot of morpho moves, I managed to get higher than expected, but I just didn’t have the time to finish it.

On Day 3, I tried Action Direct 7a, which had a nice roof section that I pieced together fairly quickly, but I just couldn’t find a good foothold on the last move, which frustrated me a lot. On the same day, I tried Graviton 7a, which had moves I usually struggle with a lot (undercling crimp with very bad footholds). I gave up fairly quickly because I just couldn’t see myself doing it, which continued and worsened the frustration. On the same day, I tried a hard 7a called Zen. The middle part felt extremely easy for me, but the start and the top were too hard.

On the last day, I was looking for an overhanging or roof boulder and found Le Nez (rallongé) 7a, which felt hard, but I knew from the beginning that I’d do it. It is a very long and technical boulder with relatively good holds. The crux for me was the right crimp just before the top section, as there was no good right foothold. I had to fight through it as it was very pumpy, but in the end, I finally sent it after around 15 attempts.

Although indoor bouldering is super fun, I have to say that sending and struggling on outdoor boulders feels so different, but I truly enjoy it, maybe even more than indoor bouldering. Hopefully, I’ll be able to experience more of that in the near future.

TL;DR: I topped 2 7a’s, I prob. like outdoor bouldering more than indoors (but still love indoors regardless) 👍
