My goals when I’m practicing:
1. Slowing down
2. Connecting with my breath
3. Staying present
No matter what’s going on around me, if I focus on these 3 things, I can find a way to regulate, which makes yoga a really powerful tool! That’s why I feel so passionate about sharing it with others.
Come practice with me! I have new classes popping up every week, and more to come 🥰 Find info at link in bio! by @80smomchic

We are excited to welcome @80smomchic to the PPY team this year! 🦋

Kayla teaches dynamic slow flow classes that are designed to adapt to individual needs and abilities. As a teacher, her goal is to help students connect with their breath and find the balance between effort and ease. You can leave her class feeling grounded and energized 🌿

Kayla loves teaching triangle pose. As a practitioner, she enjoys practicing malasana yogi squat. Both have wonderful benefits, especially after long periods of sitting or standing!

Join @80smomchic on Friday mornings @ 8:15am - Ocean Parkway!

We’re exploring the common threads between dance and poetry, including rhythm, form, movement, and storytelling in this week’s Thursday night virtual workshop with Kayla Schwab @80smomchic 👯‍♀️

We’ll examine how choreography comes alive in poems by Patricia Smith, Theodore Roethke, Maya Angelou, Rita Dove, and others.

After a brief and accessible movement practice, we’ll embody the techniques used by these poets and bring them into our own writing practice through playful prompts geared toward writing a poem that dances and moves on the page.

Save 25%-50% on any workshop with your PSNY membership — only $5 a month! We also have 1 free spot per workshop available. Learn more at our link in bio 📓

About the Instructor:

Kayla Schwab is a Brooklyn-based poet, yoga teacher, and creative director. She has taught poetry workshops with Brooklyn Poets and the Poetry Society of New York. Her work has been published in Stone Pacific Zine, Intangible Magazine and Oyedrum, where her poem “Great Expectations” was nominated for a Pushcart Prize in 2021. Happy Pride! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 I’m so excited to be leading a special Pride edition of my workshop “Find Your Flow: Exploring Yoga & Poetry” at @cocoonbkstudio on Saturday, June 13 at 4pm! We will begin with a movement practice and meditation exploring themes of self-love, affirmation, and embodiment. Then we’ll read and discuss some poems by members of the LGBTQ+ community and engage in a writing exercise inspired by these poets and the themes from our yoga practice. No prior yoga or writing experience required. This workshop is open to all! It would mean so much if you signed up! Admission is $25.
