When @ryebread_vw says “I’m going to follow you this time and I’ll begin to push when you need to go faster.”

See aforementioned push above ⬆️ 🤣

On a serious note, it can be intimidating pushing your car to its limits, especially on a track as fast as @roadatlanta. Trusting in your instructor is not optional. Ryan is the one who got me on a racetrack with @jzillatrackdays for the first time, and kept encouraging me to go back and get better. This past weekend was my first time in Yellow Group and I’m sure everyone enjoyed a good chuckle at my expense in that first session of the day. I know I laughed my way straight into the paddock after the out laps and said to our crew “What am I doing in this group? That was a lot 😅”

Ryan told me it was all in my head. So back we went for session 2, and this time I led him around the track while he controlled our pace from the rear. I got in a rhythm quickly and the rest of the day was full of strong laps, better lines, and even a handful of people waving off my point bys 🤌

Please note: I am slow. 3 total track days under my belt, I probably run a 1:53 at RA in my little NA VR6 and I’m certain there are plenty of seconds left out there (T1-T5 I am looking at you). But, that doesn’t matter. We have fun, we get better, and we drive our cars to the absolute limits. Couldn’t do it without an instructor like Ryan, or an organization like @jzillatrackdays.

If you’ve read this far, and you also enjoy spirited driving, you need to sign up for a jZilla HPDE soon. Classroom time and instructor pairings are your best friend, and yes you can have a blast in your bone stock sports car. Give it a shot, you’ll be hooked.
