thru wyoming, colorado and cali

I met some amazing people. We sat in train yards for hours, under bridges in freezing temperatures fighting off rats & raccoons from getting our food. Had to shout and kick at them majority of the night, i guess they really wanted my sardines & meat sticks. They were probably crawling all over us as we slept in the yards dump less then 100ft from that bridge.

Despite that, it felt like for the first time in a while I was truly at peace with myself. The noise in my head went silent. I wasn’t thinking about all the trauma. I wasn’t stressing over the little things anymore. I just felt in the moment, something I’ve been searching for for a long time. It’s odd how people that were just strangers can understand you in ways that people you’ve known for most of your life never could.

The long nights with the stars above us, and the cold wind beating us as we tried to stay huddled in our sleeping bags is something I’ll never forget. That feeling of really being free. Escaping an environment that’s doing nothing but harming you.

I’m not saying this trip healed me but it really taught me so much about myself. For the first time in my life I wasn’t so worried about what was happening, or where I was heading, I just appreciated the things around me. The long talks and the beautiful landscapes that rolled by. Even those moments where it felt so miserable were so great in a weird way. I don’t really know where I’m headed, but I’ve learned to not worry about it so much. I think I’m okay with not knowing anymore.
