The viking invasion rows on. Erling Haaland and Norway stunned Brazil and their supporters with a 2-1 win in the Round of 16.

The man of the match addressed the moment after the victory: “I don’t think there’s any pressure. Of course there’s a massive gathering and a massive venue, but in the end there’s zero pressure because Brazil have over 200 million people watching and expecting them to beat Norway, like the whole world. We have 5.5 million people celebrating in the street no matter what happens, so, in the end, the pressure is zero.”

Dropping ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, @adidasskateboarding has introduced the Thrasher x AFA capsule collection — a nine-piece collaboration connecting skateboarding, football, and a shared Argentine heritage.

@thrashermag was founded in San Francisco in 1981 by Fausto Vitello, an Argentine immigrant whose vision built what many consider the bible of skateboarding. Over four decades later, that founding heritage comes full circle. Paired with the legacy of the Argentine Football Association and three-time World Cup champions @afaseleccion, this collaboration is less about logos and more about lineage — though there are still plenty of logos.

Highlights include a diamond-pattern football jersey drawn from Argentina’s legendary ‘94 World Cup kit, the newly introduced Glenburn shoe blending skateboarding function with soccer-inspired design, and original artwork from adidas Skateboarding legend Mark Gonzales. by @8by8mag

Meet Roberto Ruvo — a photographer and warehouse worker from Turin, 200 km from Genova, and a Sampdoria fan whose distance from his club has only made the bond stronger.

Roberto frequently makes the trip with his camera to Stadio Luigi Ferraris for home matches. But he doesn’t just photograph football, he photographs faith and emotion. His lens finds the wrinkled faces of lifelong supporters, the pride in a child waving their flag, and stunning exhibits of passion from the collective Sampdoria faithful — images so rich in composition and feeling, they elicit emotion of regardless of your connection to the club.

Now collaborating directly with the club after Sampdoria found him on social media, Roberto is living his dream:

“When I photograph Sampdoria, I’m not just behind a camera. I’m part of what I’m telling.

Photographing Sampdoria means capturing the story of a community that never stops believing — that suffers, celebrates, and remains united. Through my lens, I try to transform that into eternal memory.”

In October 2020, during the throes of the pandemic, Maximilian “Mack” Mansfield began organizing pickup soccer games at Tanahey Playground in the Two-Bridges neighborhood of Manhattan. The games drew teenagers from across the city and four years later, those informal kickabouts have evolved into a free-to-play academy currently serving over 100 players across 5 teams from more than 30 countries with comprehensive academic support—all at no cost.

Two Bridges Football Club challenges the pay-to-play model that dominates American youth soccer, where families routinely spend thousands annually for elite training. Instead, it operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, running entirely on donations.

The mission is straightforward: identify talented players from underserved communities and provide training, academic preparation, and college guidance typically reserved for those who can afford it.

The academy holds four intensive sessions weekly. This past spring, Two Bridges defeated the well-funded MLS-backed NYCFC Academy. But recognizing that athletic talent alone wouldn’t secure futures, Mansfield and his father Michael expanded the program to include Two Bridges Academy — in collaboration with Cornell Tech — which provides tutoring, SAT preparation, and college counseling.

The results validate the model: 87 of their first 100 graduates advanced to college or professional soccer. In December 2023, Two Bridges became the official youth academy for Brooklyn Football Club, creating a pathway to professional soccer when the USL Championship team launches in 2026.

Players come from immigrant communities across the five boroughs, representing dozens of countries. For many, Two Bridges offers more than soccer—it’s a support structure extending to career exposure and internships at firms like Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs.

Whether the model proves sustainable remains uncertain. American youth sports favors reliable revenue streams, not philanthropic dependence. But for now, Two Bridges continues on faith and donations, believing each college commitment validates the econogmics.
