Every Nationals felt like a fever dream so (in chronological order) here are some pictures to remember them in honour of my retirement from BUIHA. I founded the Bristol Bloodhounds with nothing but hopes and dreams. My primary motivation has always been to give other students at all levels of experience the opportunity to play hockey and represent our universities and cities, and I am happy and proud to say I think I have achieved that :)
Our first Nationals, a little controversial, was a struggle. I dragged eight skaters who'd never met each other (five of whom had never played a game) and a goalie who'd also never played a game up to Sheffield, and went undefeated for the weekend. The win was cool but that opportunity to play my first ever games of hockey with some awesome people was far far more important and was some of the most fun I'd ever had and could not be more grateful to have made it there.
Our second Nationals, last weekend, followed a year later with only one game for our development players (a loss to Devils C) and zero team trainings. Plenty of socials though. A similar situation to last year with players that had never met and some without games, though luckily a much longer bench. Not sure who decided to glaze us on the power rankings but moving into Tier 2 NCK with half our team still a development squad led to a much less successful weekend, yet a few wins and some incredible goals from our debut and returning players. And like last year, the result was much less important than the opportunity to play. It is seriously so cool to be representing Bristol and the South West as well as that, even if our universities and students' unions couldn't care less about our team.
Finally, I was a Redhawk for the weekend in Tier 2 Women's, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to just play some hockey instead of running around IceSheffield crashing out at my team and shitposting on the Bristol Bloodhounds account. Incredible people and the most friendly club, and super cool to be part of their first ever women's team!!!

thank you all my beautiful friends who were so excited for my birthday they showed up two months early, wow!!! so many of you i can't even post or tag you all. i think alina rizz party was a massive success, very BORNY etc. means the world to have so many awesome fun silly friends celebrate 10/12ths of another year of alina above ground by karaoke and drinking so many pints in my favourite pub in da world (thanks everyone who bought me pints that i kept forgetting i had and abandoning all around the sportsmans). shall we do it all again on my actual birthday? by @8kun.top
