It’s super fascinating to think what these old classics have seen troughout their life. Ilderim took part in 1936 Olympics in Berlin, Germany. Which makes one think world now and then… 8mr.org tells a fascinating story about Ilderim getting disqualified in on of the races in 1936 Oympics following an incident with Finnish yacht Cheerion. And what really caught my attention was that film footage taken from a zeppelin airship was used as evidence in the situation. No drones in 1936 Olympics. 💁‍♂️ Btw, it feels very privileged to be a random sailing photographer shooting some adhoc footage of this beauty while just sitting on a dock of the yacht club. 🤩 I was able to find only very few sailing pics from 1936 Olympics. And it makes me wonder if Instagram still exists in year 2116. Although I am sure Ilderim is still sailing. ⛵️ #8mrclass #classicyacht #sailing by @8mrclass

Sandhamn, here we come! ⛵🇸🇪 Future history is unfolding in Sweden today. Six mighty 8 Metre’s yachts are gathering on the start line of the Sandhamnsregattan. 4 Finnish Eights. 2 Swedish Eights. We have the feeling that the Swedish fleet is growing slowly, the passion is rising, and the timeless beauty of these yachts is about to take over the Swedish Archipelago once more Seeing these 100-year-old racing icons in action is proof that history doesn’t disappear if we keep the passion alive. This is history and today’s competition in one. This is pure heritage. This is The Eight Metre Class, the Passionate Class. 🏆 Which team are you rooting for? 👇 Andromeda @s23Andromeda Sagita @8mr_Sagita Varg @sy.Varg Vågspel @vagspel_1943 Iroquois @syiroquois Ilderim (1939) @thomashaggstrom I this movie featured here is the breathtaking and very quick ‘Wanda’, a masterpiece by Swedish yacht designer Tore Holm currently for sale, laying in Norway. — 📍 Sandhamn, Sweden 🎵 Audio: The Boys Are Back In Town - Thin Lizzy 🎥 @sailpix.fi 💬 @michielinsinger #ThePassionateClass #8mR #8mrclass #8metreclass #eightmetreclass Sandhamnsregattan KSSS ClassicYachts ToreHolm Wanda8mR VintageSailing SwedenSailing FinnishSailing @finnish_8mr_association_fema @hss_helsingforssegelssallskap @airisto_segelssallskap taken in KSSS Hamnen Sandhamn by @8mrclass
